@NyteWytch directed me to a thread in the Second Life forums about SLU closing, and I have to admit I'm amused to read how terribly mean we all are apparently.

To be quite honest...in all the internet communities I have been a part of...SLU/VVO has been one of the closest-knit, supportive and willing to give the shirt off their back to others...that I have ever seen. Yes we meme and lolcat to high heaven but fuck outta here with that group-think bullshit.

It was only Mad Blogger, Crazy happy troll and 'let my pedos go' who were narky. Most everyone else seemed to be pretty cool and positive about VV. Like I posted there, people who were banned from SLU were not going to mourn for it. In my never humble opinion SLU did good work; raised money for good causes, supported its members in many ways, gave a wide leeway to differing points of view and always had a light touch with moderation.
