All signs are pointing to the Oculus Quest being a huge success with consumers, which means there will soon be a lot of users who are new to VR. A subset of people who use VR experience motion sickness to varying degrees (especially women). This video gives some insight into the issue and steps to take to minimize the effects. A lot of experiences for VR have settings specifically to combat motion sickness (like teleporting instead of smooth movement).

I get sick playing Call of Duty. I am hesitant to try VR because of that, but this looks helpful.

I'm so very curious about VR, but two things have always stopped me:

1. I've never tried it, so I don't know how likely I am to experience the motion sickness response
2. The lack of compelling content. I'm not a gamer.

I can think of one thing you might like: watching movies. Just regular old 2D ones I mean. A VR headset can give you a movie screen that to your perception is theater- or even IMAX-size, way bigger than a computer monitor or the biggest big-screen TV could ever give you. Also you can watch your movie while laying back on your bed, without having to be all uncomfortably propped up!

I'm such a tightwad that I can't justify buying one just to watch movies that I can currently watch on a flat screen TV. The flat screen that I didn't buy until they'd been out for about 10 years. Just like the Echo Dot I have only because they were handed out as door prizes at an office party.

I didn't get the door prize VR headset at the last Christmas party, but there's always 2019....

Thanks for the video.
It's quite clear that the Oculus demo I tried years ago did everything wrong and was a marketing fail in that regard.
