Last night, I hopped onto You Tube without being logged in to briefly scan the "other side of things". Australia's Sky News, a Murdoch-owned station much like Fox, which is cabled around Aus, often into pubs and sports bars, was being recommended close to the top. Alan Jones, a right wing radio shock-jock from decades back, was getting stuck into the US election. He was claiming that the US left was suspiciously "discovering" mail-in votes and cheating...you all know the story too well, and are all too familiar with the commentary. I only needed to hear 20 seconds and scan the first dozen comments. I am used to seeing this from US sites, and detest it as much as all of you, but it was an eye-opener to see that the same division is being sown in Australia.

I don't want this right wing facts-denying rubbish here, and yet here it is on our cable telly ( and hence You Tube). This is partly why I want the US to get it right this election, because I don't want Murdoch to learn that he can split your country apart, and then do it to us too. I am so ashamed at the cultural division he has helped to sow in the US, and am terrified that he is doing it here as well.

Anyway...still cheering you on...go go go...get that nasty idiot out.

Here's something for pious Christians: a lengthy comparison about the predictions in the bible about the antichrist's behaviour with Trump's behaviour. Trump really hits the high score, though something is really far fetched in it.

If Biden wins Arizona, can we get an album? Waylon Jennings, Duane Eddy, Glen Campbell, Alice Cooper, Stevie Nicks, Jimmy Eat World, Linda Ronstadt, Gin Blossoms...
Don't forget

(Which I have been listening to rather a lot lately)

The whole western world seems to undergo a shift to the right the last decade.
Everywhere in Europe more extreme right parties are popping up or conservative parties get a joker at the helm (UK, US).

I think the world is getting to complicated for many people.
They seem to want leaders and news sources with simple straightforward answers and theories, that sadly don't even have to be true, because a lot of people are not able to figure out what is fake news and what not.
The ones screaming fake news the most, are believed best.

lol Trump's lead in Georgia is down to 9,500. Dare I hope?

Down to 79,000 in PA.

North Carolina still isn't saying a darn thing one way or the other.
Yes, Hope. What is sending Donnie into paroxysms of rage right now is that in Phillie and Atlanta (as well as other counties) the vast majority of mail-ins were from Democrats. Just as the vast majority if same-day votes were Republicans (because DT made it clear he didn't like Mail ballots). So what we're seeing right now is the Biden votes being counted at a 7:1 or 9:1 ratio over the Trump votes.

Biden has now overtaken Trump in Georgia.
Biden has pulled to within <1% of Trump in PA with 6% of the votes still uncounted.

In another 24 hours, it will be Biden with 270+ and Trump can start packing.

And why is this happening? Because the reality many people are living in and observing day by day is quite different from what they are reading in the mass media.

For example in Germany there's one part of society growing every year: the poor and working poor. In most of the press coverage in the media poor are non existent, or only being described as parasites unwilling to go to work. Then they are reading day by day about how great the German economy is, running from one record to the next, and that the country is wealthier than ever, better stronger faster than ever and so on.

Those people then go out, looking at streets full of potholes, public schools which are rundown ruins, swimming baths closing one after another, a totally torn down and fucked up country if looking at many places.

Their reality they are living in differs vastly from the reality being described in the media. And when the reality a big part of a society lives in differs from the reality in the media choruses crying "Lügenpresse", which is fake news in German, are born. And for those people with good reason.

It's just an irony that those people don't flock around the Left parties, because in most countries the Left has been giving up the Left, and simply does not really care about the needs of their previously own main base. Instead they are talking about luxury problems for working poor like gender identity and what not, which is fine but will not make you score within your previous main base. So those people go conservative up to the extreme right, where they at least still got the feeling that somebody is listening and actually cares about their need.

So Europe going right wing is the combined result of the failure of the left to actually make left politics and the politics of the mainstream parties in many countries, which was about austerity and what not, but mostly ignoring the growing parts of the poor in their countries, because in many times this increase is the result of their politics.

In the U.S. people are flocking to the Right because it's promising to take away their healthcare, social security, education and leave them vulnerable to the pandemic. I have to admit, that's such a persuasive and appealing agenda that the Left really can't compete.
