Upgrade issues

The newest version of Xenforo changed a few core features, and one of the major changes was to the reaction system. Previously, Xenforo had no reactions beyond like, so I had an addon for the additional ones. That add on stopped working with the upgrade. However, the addon maker released an updated version that uses the new Xenforo reaction system, and had an importer for the reactions themselves and all the post reactions. I've imported everything but I'm still figuring out how it all works. For the next day or two the reactions will probably be weird. They are accessed through the like button on the posts - there's not a separate like and react button anymore. Some of them are not showing in the popup box (they are there, but all the svg ones are black), so I'm sorting it all out.

Also both themes had some style changes, so I'm sorting those out as well. Things will look a little wonky but I'm working on it.

Sadly, it seems one change is that you can no longer react multiple times to the same post with different reactions. The new Xenforo reaction system is a Facebook style one.

Hmm...I have noticed that the font seems smaller. I figured it was something I had done inadvertently. I just upped the zoom level to compensate (Chrome).

And changing the size in preferences doesn't do anything...

I opened up a support ticket about the font size - I reverted them back to what they were before, but the updated theme works with rem units instead of pixels. Once I am able to get the two themes to correctly use rem units without looking gigantic (which you saw last night), then the font size selector will work again.

This was a big update - Xenforo changed some core systems, and also added native support for push notifications (I was using a plugin before). In preferences you have much more control over what you get notified about. Once the dust settles I'm make some posts about the new features. I didn't particularly want to upgrade but most plugins require 2.1 now and there were some security fixes that I couldn't hold off on.

I am sad about the change to the reactions system, but I am hopeful that the addon maker can get around the current limitations. In the meantime, I'm still working on the weird display issues with them. Thankfully the new plugin was able to import all of the reactions you guys made on previous posts and all the reaction buttons I had added.

And after previewing an edit, it doesn’t work without it either.
