Trying an Older Avatar Look! Anyone Else?

Lately, I’ve been trying something different with my avatar, adding a few wrinkles, some grey hair, and softer features. At first, it was just for fun, but now it feels more meaningful. I didn’t think it would feel this real. There’s something honest and powerful about not trying to look perfect all the time. It made me think about how we show ourselves in virtual worlds and how our avatars can affect how we feel, too.

Has anyone else done this? Whether it’s for roleplay, storytelling, or just to show a different side of yourself, I would like to know about you all. Did it change anything for you?

See my profile pic. I arrived at this look years ago and have stuck with it, in part because it looks a bit like RL me (though with slightly greyer hair than RL ... but I'm beginning to catch up).

One of my alts (Isengrim Littlepaws) is a grey-muzzle.

Edit: LOL after all these years Isengrim Resident was available! Nobody had taken it! SHOPPING TIME!

I have not done wrinkles but I do wear some extra layers for like, stretch marks, veins and belly fat.

I suppose it's all technically "older" just not like, old older.

I think that this is one of Beebo's skins, I have struggled to find skins and clothing that really does reflect age. Anyhow, this is my Avatar right now.

She looks very trustworthy, for some reason.

I aged my avatar long ago, with gray/white hair and a skin with wrinkles. I'm 70 now, irl, and I have no desire to appear like a 20-something in Second Life. There are many aspects of popular culture that I never internalized; the worship of youthful looks is just one of many that I shrugged off.

It's really difficult finding mesh heads and older skins that don't have heavily feminine features, so my avatar is still a work in progress.
