Basically, in a nutshell:

The Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth, the most drastic move yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law.

I believe in God and Jesus and what He has done for us, but it is getting harder and harder to identify as Christian when Evangelicals go and pull shit like this. I sincerely hope we are able to flip Congress next month, because I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg of what Trump is going to try to pull in his remaining years.

I think that's an accurate way to put it. It's kind of like how the Pythagrians felt so terrified of the square root of two. It obviously posed no real threat, but it took apart an elegant world view they had. So they killed the person that discovered it.

I think evangelicals need a nice, simple world view. The modern world is taking it apart, so they are lashing out.

Fortunately a lot of communities (and subcommunities) that may never have had much of a reason to come together have been doing so the past two years.

Also there is an interesting range of things that are becoming more progressive. I was at a hackathon this weekend that was previously women-only. This year they switched to all genders but cis-men. The badges had pronoun stickers and the 2 bathrooms were women and all genders.

So basically, partly as a response to donnie and feinds (no, not a typo) various groups are coming together and becoming more progressive while doing so.

What are they going to do, mandate retroactive abortion for infants that don't fit their perfect binary laws? Force doctors to perform genital modification surgery, even if the parents object?

I hope you're right. To me it seems as if the oligarchs are getting more powerful every day. I'm really getting scared. I was one of the first people to start fearing that DJT would win and I was right. I hope I'm just being too pessimistic now.

I want every person to be free to define themselves. But I especially value you Roxanne. So many people worked so hard to achieve civil liberties. I hate to think anyone might lose what they've gained.
