This charade is now over. The orange one is found not guilty. Was all of this worth it? Everyone knew this would be the conclusion. What did it gain the democrats or the country?

I could see the use of this whole process if it weren't about a somewhat limited issue in the Ukraine and rather put him in the limelight for all of his many crimes.

Now it all comes across as a big joke on the democrats for this scene.

Conviction requires two thirds of the votes.

4:21 pm. 48 voted guilty of abuse of power, 52 not.

4:34 pm 47 voted guilty of obstruction of justice, 53 not.

Now it's not the Democrats fault that the Senate is malfunctioning, is it?

What the country gained? The assurance that some parts of checks and balances still can be invoked, if necessary. And some day when you are awaking out of your peaceful slumber you might come to this conclusion, too.

Checks and balances? He's obviously guilty and found not to be so how do you come to that conclusion?

The disposables + the Jebus fans + the traditional Republicans who always vote Republican no matter what, will vote for Trump again.
Trumpty Dumpty will become more and more popular now. Bellow the slogan "four more years" until the elections and job done.
This impeachment will turn out to be a shot in the own foot for the Dems, as expected and warned for by many.
It gives the orange baboon lots of ammunition for his next gatherings around the country.

Only hope is, that the Dems will find a way to activate all those millions of potential Dem voters that could not be arsed to vote last time and the times before that. The way things go at the blue side so far is not very promising to be honest.

But sometimes you must do the right thing despite knowing it will hurt you...

If this ends up having that piece of shit - or worse - in office for four more years it may well not fucking matter for some of us that someone "did the right thing" as some of us will be considerably worse off, if not fucking dead.
A quick look towards history tells us that it will take quite some hurts to get people's established asses up. However once they are finally moving they will gladly suffer even bigger losses as long as they happen for "the cause" - whatever "the cause" might be...

Human society is just f*ed up - always has been.

The right thing would have been putting him on trial for all of his crimes, not just his ones in the Ukraine.
I think they want to, and may still do it with more impeachment. The problem is that he has stated he will tie everything up in courts or ignore it.

Hence the obstruction charges.

They can't get get the proper evidence for anything else because they are being obstructed.

Except you forgot that we've just guaranteed massive foreign interference in the next election. Expect hacking, bots, all the old plays plus a bunch more.

I don’t see the point in blaming the House (the Democrats) for doing what they could.

The Trump voters, to the extent that they realize they’re running a minority government by way of the Senate, are perfectly fine with a blocked Congress because they do not believe in majority rule. Why blame the Democrats for Confederate intransigence, as if they have not been immovable all along? But those of us trying to warn people that Neo-Confederate fascism is real get accused of being rude. Well, there are plenty of people who are not willing to roll over for Dominionists. We’re going to be rude. And people will have to decide if they want a Constitutional republic.

We have a Constitutional crisis caused by a minority Senate and a minority Electoral College. This isn’t the fault of the Democrats (majority) and begging fascists to be nice does not work.

The minority government is racist and feels completely entitled, and we are not going to change their minds, and there was not some other way of doing an impeachment that was going to persuade them.

If you think the Republicans are out to kill you (I do) expecting the Democrats (majority) to be able to save you with a broken Constitution is not going to work.

This whole thing is the dynamic of abuse. It can only stop when you realize the abuser does not operate by legal and civilized rules and
IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE.

So let’s stop blaming the majority.

That is for sure. It's just a question of how long it takes.

In my eyes it would be very good if a bunch of people wake up before November.
I’m hoping that the healthcare issue will push some people to vote who might have otherwise stayed home. It’s certainly been driving recent Dem results in red states. Low information voters can’t understand the Constitutional issues (they tend to treat the President as a four year king), but they do seem to understand losing their healthcare.

Pretty much so. Trump's voters are driven by fear. Trump learned to feed their primal fears to keep them blind. The fear of death however is one of the most primal ones. One he has not found fake promises against yet. Once people realize their very lives are at stake they might change their mind. Sadly they need a calm moment to realize this. And Trump's agenda will try to deny them any calm moments whipping up their fears in even more crazy ways to keep them frightend, angry and in a state of blind rage where they support him - until his powerbase is secured that is, then he will drop them and they will finally reap what they had sown. Sadly this affects everyone, not just those that voted for him.
