I'm not even surprised by Republican shenanigans anymore.
Pro-Trump podcaster Jesse Kelly, a frequent guest on the canceled program of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, declared that the United States “needs a dictator” in an alarming tweet.
“Let me tell you all an uncomfortable truth: This country needs a dictator,” Kelly tweeted to his nearly 640,000 followers. “As the great John Adams said, a free country only works for a ‘moral people.’ We are not worthy of freedom. A dictator is coming.”
One Twitter user responded, “Weimar problems eventually lead to Weimar solutions,” referencing Germany’s Weimar Republic, that historians say created conditions that led to the rise of Adolf Hitler. Kelly responded simply, “There it is.”
The American Conservative Union, the organization that puts on the CPAC events, was hit with a bombshell resignation letter from its treasurer Bob Beauprez that lobbed multiple stunning allegations, including concealment of money paid to defend chairman Matt Schlapp against a lawsuit, refusal to allow Beauprez to review financial records, and egregious mistreatment of staffers.
In January, Schlapp was accused by a staffer on Herschel Walker’s Senate campaign of aggressively groping him while visiting Georgia during the 2022 election. “Matt Schlapp of the CPAC grabbed my junk and pummeled it at length,” the staffer said in a video he took the night of the alleged incident. “I feel so fucking dirty. I feel so fucking dirty.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert's son called 911 in December to report that his father, Jayson Boebert, had gotten physical with him and was "throwing" him around the house and that he didn't know why.
Minutes after the call ended — while Garfield County Sheriff's Office deputies were on their way to their home — the teen called again to take the accusations back, with Lauren Boebert jumping on the phone to say her son "doesn't need help."
I hope he has someone he can run to.

Aren't these the very same people who decry "cancel culture"? Pretty soon, they're going to run out of places to shop and eat.
Candace Owens: 'Do Not Shop at Target or Else You're Gay and a Pervert'Right-wing podcaster Candace Owens has embraced boycotting Target and making it uncomfortable for Americans to be associated with the brand.www.metroweekly.com
An actual, good reason to shop at Target.
