Should we talk about this? How can we not?!

I think I was most shocked by the details on the patronage:

The painting, which measures nearly nine by seven feet, was commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Drapers, a medieval guild of wool and cloth that now focuses on philanthropic endeavors. It will hang in Drapers’ Hall, which has a gallery dedicated to British monarchs.
So, the painting...

It's vibrant, I'll say that. Nice touch with the butterfly.

Maybe the first meme attempt on it I've come across.

I agree it's a little confusing as a choice for an official portrait.

But...not gonna lie, that painting looks metal AF

I think whoever gave the painting the "This is fine and okey dokey" was on some serious drugs.

I suppose it all depends on what the purpose of the portrait is supposed to be. If it's a sort of historical record, so people will know what Charles looked like, then this is not a conventional portrait that fulfills that standard, bland but established precedent.

As a work of art, Mrs. Beebo and I both like it. In an era in which photography has largely robbed portraits of their documentary role, this is different, interesting, and bold. And as a further plus, I'm not adverse to the interpretation mentioned above of "Steeped in the blood and mayhem of Britain's colonization exploits, that are still playing out globally today."

I certainly like it better than the presidential portrait of Barack Obama.

When it's put that way, it makes more sense.

I've not seen it... /me googles for it......looks at it....da fuq is that? The Former President is fine, the chair is fine, but what the fuck is up with the greenery.
