All the networks are saying it. Both candidates are saying it (I'm only listening to one, the other one is pouring poison into our ears). This could be the LAST ELECTION ever! :freakout:

I was watching lively, upbeat JLo videos while I worked out in my office. They were so powerful and moving, it's hard to keep your feet still. Which is good if you're working out.

Then I broke into tears.

What the hell.

I'm spending an even greater amount of mental energy struggling with suicidal thoughts. It's a chronic thing for me to begin with, but at this point it honestly looks like all the rails are off and we're sliding into nazi shitland over the next year or so.

On the other hand, if they do take over and/or send me off to a camp or take away my disability insurance or whatever ...that means I'll have no heart meds which means I'll literally be dead within a couple of weeks with no need to lift a finger on my part. 💗So at least there's a bright side.

I just don't see a way that everything is happy fluffy bunnies and rainbows after the election, no matter who wins. Even with a Kamala/Dem landslide, the MAGAts will not go down without a vicious, even irrational fight.

If they win, we are well and truly screwed.

I'm seriously seeking alternatives to continuing to live in the US. Maybe Canada will offer refugee status, but I doubt it. Besides, they're having their own little fascist fit up there. Costa Rica? Mexico? My work is such that I can work from anywhere in the world that has decent internet service (that now means no Hong Kong or China) but even that could be turned upside down since almost all of my income is tied to Amazon and I'm pretty sure they're on the Enemies List. Escape also involves selling my home, and there's no Ctrl-Z for that. I could rent it out, but being an absentee landlord living in a foreign country sounds like a nightmare.

Mostly I'm optimistic that we'll eventually come out of this okay, but, damn, the pessimistic moments are grim.

Stressed? Exhausted, and there’s nothing the rest of us 95% of the planet can do but wait and see what America plans to do with us this time.
As one British substack to which I subscribe put it,
all the rest of us can do is wait for a few tens of thousands of voters in a handful of states to let us know their decision, and to hope that there’s no civil war afterwards.

I don't really follow the American election news at the moment.Scan the headlines from the Dutch newspapers at best.
As Kamilah already stated in the post above, we in the rest of the world can't do a thing to dismantle this ticking time bomb called Trump. It is all up to the American voters.

I'm far more worried than I should be. Even a win for Harris will most likely not change that WW3 is on the brink to start soon.
The Orange Baboon at the wheel would speed up things most likely, but still..

I have a high degree of faith that the voting itself will turn out fine, baring truly epic levels of rat-fuckery. My worries are about everything after that, the endless legal challenges, the inevitable maga violence, the monstrously unhinged rhetoric. ...though come to think of it, the magats are going to do all three of those anyway, even if they somehow win.

I've got my own long-term problems with depression/anxiety/self-destructive tendencies, so the paranoid dystopian hellscape thinking is not new for me. It's just novel having it while rational as opposed to the usual irrational times when meds have hickuped.

I empathize with the European folks stress and feeling as if they are held hostage over it. Most of the US people feel the same way, stuck having to hope a handful of assholes who haven't yet somehow picked a side will do the right thing. The vote SHOULD however be the easy part. Then it's off to the races...

I read a comment somewhere that the EU is tired of depending on farmers in Wisconsin to vote to support them.
Rest of the world is tired of depending on farmers in Wallonia to vote in favour of anything.

Yeah I'm stressed, but also feeling like I may as well be in a foreign country too. California is, I'm sure, locked down. It'll go blue with or without me.

I have no faith in the rest of the country to make a sane decision. They fucked us over with Bush / Gore, Trump / Hillary.... they'll do it again if they get the chance.

Anyone caught meddling in this election needs to have something foul branded onto their foreheads as punishment.

My stomach has been tied up in knots these past several weeks, and I've been alternating between giddy euphoria and outright panic attacks. I did my part by voting and helping to get the word out about the sheer importance of this election. All I can do now is sit and wait, hoping the election itself goes smoothly and that there's very little ratfuckery during and after, all while trying not to eat everything in the fridge.

There are also the down-ballot races.
Thankfully I got to vote for Andy Kim, running for democratic senator in NJ instead of that corrupt democrat piece of shit Menendez. I don't even know who the republican opposition is but if it was them against Menendez I would have to consider and do research.

Oh god. Who the hell knows. 2009? 2010?
Something to think about:

The Dodgers just won the World Series.

Now, before you say "wrong forum, girl," hear me out.

The last time the Dodgers won the World Series, Trump was soundly defeated in the election.

I'm jus' sayin'.
If the article Innula sent me to a while ago is anything to judge by, this is at least as reliable a portent as anything being published as a "poll."

God I hope you're correct.

(And while I'm no fan of the Dodgers, it's soooooo satisfying watching the Yankees get smoked. So there's that anyway.)
