As you know, European fascism did not begin with those things. Those were the horrible features of the end-state of fascist states (including Stalin's USSR). The early states were state sponsored thug groups meant to enforce the norms of the leadership. Abbot wants his thugs to be the officious Karens of Texas who are frightened at the idea of their precious little white children being exposed to the actual facts of life.

Trying to round up the parents and lock them away actually is a huge deal. I agree the comparison to NAZI's is too common and often overblown, but this actually will destroy lives.

OH GOD... some of my first encounters with internet forums were fitness forums... they really are overrun with the worst kind of meathead stereotypes. It's worse than you'd even think. Most of these forums have a majority of witless, irredeemable meatheads, and a minority of smart people trying to reason with them.
