It's out there, so I thought the pushback deserves a thread of its own, rather than mixing it in with the general Trump presidency thread.

Maga's Very Bad Night In Texas - by Michelle H. Davis
Last night, voters across Texas sent a message loud enough to rattle the far-right out of their echo chambers: we’re done with your culture wars, your book bans, and your crusade against public schools. Voters chose community over chaos, educators over agitators, and progress over extremism.

The local elections weren’t just a series of wins but a sweep. MAGA-backed candidates got absolutely trounced across the state. This was the result of deep organizing, years of work by local Democrats, and voters who are fed up with the far-right hijacking of school boards and city councils to push their agenda.

Texas isn’t turning blue overnight, but make no mistake: the MAGA movement had a very bad night, and the momentum is shifting.

At least one of the legal firms that capitulated to Trump is learning that lawyers don't like working at legal firms that don't want to defend themselves.

Venerable New York Firm That Struck a Deal With Trump Is Losing Lawyers (archive.today)
Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft struck a deal with President Trump last month intended to secure the future of New York’s oldest law firm. Instead the pact is backfiring, adding to an exodus of lawyers that has placed the firm on uncertain footing.

Cadwalader already was facing troubles, including imminent attorney departures, before its April 11 deal with the White House in which it avoided a punitive executive order by pledging at least $100 million of pro bono work to support the president’s priorities. The agreement now is pushing more lawyers to leave, people familiar with the matter said, spurred by anger that the firm capitulated to Trump instead of fighting back against an administration campaign that many in the industry believe to be unconstitutional.

This seems appropriate here. His confrontation of her is surgical and stunning.

Too long to make an effective impact, so I've rewritten it:

"While President Trump has immunity for all official acts regardless of legality, that is a privilege you do not share."

"Nice house, and I'm sure that car of yours looks like a lot of fun to drive. Try to value those things while performing your official duties. Rudy Giuliani played things fast and lose while he was in office, you might want to have a talk with him about consequences."

EDIT: Redacted some of the things I said while I was angry.

How does Noem maintain a straight face in these hearings. Does she believe that Donald Trump will protect her? Does she believe that he won’t allow for her to be disappeared when she becomes a threatening liability? Does she not realize that she is quickly approaching that point? Perhaps she has an escape plan.
