... P.S: it should be clear to any jurist, that TFG's involvement in the Jan 6 insurrection attempt was not an "Official Act as President" but an official desperate act of a failed political CANDIDATE. The fact that he was also lame duck incumbent at the time, should be carefully considered... And then dismissed entirely.

And we should update the Hatch Act to include the P and VP as well. Muddying the division between Campaign related Acts and "official acts of an office holder" needs to be grounds for immediate removal from office.

True, but That Fucking Guy has been promising to do things that scrotus has preemptively given him immunity for... Biden can demonstrate why that was a bad decision now, before TFG can follow through with much much worse. Or he can wait and gamble away both our democracy and judicial system.
The moment a President exploits the latest Supreme Court ruling democracy is dead. Only a question of who does it. It's quite bad no matter what.

Expected.

Also, the reply chain to this xweet is as expected.

Make sure to blame the woman, Ralphie.
Agreed. I blame voters and the right wing propaganda machine first and foremost. Hillary's own missteps were over punished.

Unless rescinded before it gets exploited, democracy is dead in the water now. It just hasn't finished sinking.

Trump-Appointed Justice Goes Out of Her Way to Argue Ex-President’s ‘Fake Electors’ Scheme Not Protected From Prosecution

Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, agreed with the majority opinion that presidents have absolute immunity when it comes to official acts in office. However, she broke with her conservative colleagues on a few points.
In her concurring opinion to the majority, which was issued by Chief Justice John Roberts on Monday, Coney Barrett agreed with the dissent by Justice Sonia Sotomayor that acts that took place while a president was in office could be introduced as evidence. Coney Barret wrote:
I do not join Part III–C, however, which holds that the Constitution limits the introduction of protected conduct as evidence in a criminal prosecution of a President, beyond the limits afforded by executive privilege. …
The Constitution does not require blinding juries to the circumstances surrounding conduct for which Presidents can be held liable. …
[E]xcluding from trial any mention of the official act connected to the bribe would hamstring the prosecution. To make sense of charges alleging a quid pro quo, the jury must be allowed to hear about both the quid and the quo, even if the quo, standing alone, could not be a basis for the President’s criminal liability.
Coney Barrett also specifically addressed the case at hand, Trump’s election subversion case. In a footnote, she discussed discerning what may constitute a private act versus an official one:

'Smart': Expert lauds judge for quietly killing Trump's chance to appeal before election

The judge in Donald Trump's criminal hush money trial showed the nation he's playing chess and not checkers when he delayed the former president's sentencing hearing this week, a legal expert argues.

More on Justice Sotomayor's dissent.

The opposite side reactions to her dissent are obnoxious, minimizing and misogynistic - remarks like 'hyperbolic, apopleptic, hysterical'. Puleeze. Those comments smack of putdowns, shaming and silencing of sexual assault survivors, like 'there there little lady, methinks you protest too much, couldn't have been that bad amirite? why are you being so hysterical, at least he didn't stab you', etc. Grrr.

At least four, if you're counting the one from the list the Federalist Society pushed onto Bush Junior after he couldn't get his personal pick for SC justice through.

Question: how many SCOTUS judges did the Dems bother to appoint and how many did the out-of-control, neofascist party appoint?
"Bother to appoint"? I know you have an axe to grind, but SCOTUS judges can't be appointed at a whim. They're appointed for life so there is only a vacancy when one dies. They also need Senate confirmation, if the Senate refuses to confirm...no appointment. Remember Merrick Garland's appointment being stymied by Mitch O'Connell?

We are in the "Slight tilted and still not aware that there are not enough life boats" phase of the Titanic.
I think more like the phase of "Oops -- we just missed that iceberg. Let's turn around and try again."

Nevertheless, it ain't over till Celine Dion sings.

Former Trump Staffer Shares Texts Revealing Secret Payoffs

A.J. Delgado, a former staffer on Trump’s 2016 campaign, shared bombshell texts alleging that the campaign “settled multiple” gender discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits. The texts, reportedly between Delgado and former Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis, came to light in new filings Delgado made as part of her ongoing discrimination lawsuit.
“Jenna, [between] us, do you know of anyone who complained of gender discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, or sexual harassment, in the 2020 campaign? Do you know if the 2020 campaign settled any lawsuits regarding such?” texts allegedly from Delgado ask. “Yes. Off record—Boris. The campaign settled multiple suits,” a text reply allegedly from Ellis reads. “Have your investigator subpoena Michael Glassner,” the texts advise, apparently referring to the Trump 2020 campaign strategist.

Note the date.

Is it interesting how we didn't need to sign anything into law to accomplish this?
