A virtual world called rec room has just been valued at $1.25 billion. To put this in perspective, Facebook paid $2 billion for Oculus. The Verge is saying Rec Room is a unicorn.

Seems pretty high for a virtual world with lego style avatars, but I haven't tried it yet. I've heard the name, but I haven't heard it as much as VR Chat. I'll probably try it on my new Quest 2 tomorrow.

I've never heard of it but the article says half of kids 13 to 16 have.
Are we sure they aren't confusing it with Roblox? That seems to be the popular VW for the kids. My nieces love Roblox and they are like 5.

i tried it back when i first got my Rift... there was quite a few people online .. it was like a school and each room had different mini games some solo some team based.... like going to an arcade back in the day.... inbetween rooms you can hangout and chat in a lobby and pick up and throw just about anything... it was definitely all teens and kids. i haven't touched it in a while but i'm sure theres alot more content now compared to then
