I do! I do!

This morning I was up a 1/2 hour early just so I could get in a few sessions of Beat Saber. Then just after I got home from work and before dinner was ready, two quick sessions of Beat Saber. Then an hour after dinner (gotta let the food settle) four sessions of -- wait for it -- Beat Saber. And that was going to be the last for the night, but then after watching an hour of TV I sneaked in yet one more session of Beat Saber (well, actually two), which I really should not have done because now the blood is still racing and I'm too hyped to fall asleep any time soon. But I couldn't help myself.... because Beat Saber.

I was surprised by the wide range of playing styles, especially #4 & #2, that basically dance their way through the game. Others hammer it out. My style could probably be best described as desperate, and I'm still at Easy level, but I'm improving with every session.

Today I demo'd the Quest at my office. I was surprised by how many of my co-workers had no interest at all -- we're in IT after all! -- but two of the guys were really impressed. I think at least one of them is going to bite, now that he's experienced it.

Both of them tried out the Beat Saber demo and immediately topped my highest score. I hate them.

It's funny, so many people rave about Beat Saber, but it just leaves me a bit cold. I've not felt compelled to buy the full version. I admit i was surprised at finding myself ducking and leaning out of the way, but the core gameplay doesn't seem to grab me. I'll give it a few more tries. I do hope they fully get custom songs working, as that would be a draw for me.

That the Quest doesn't have pc possibilities is a big disadvantage IMHO.
You need to shell out Shekels for two different sets of goggles if you want to be up to date for VR.

People have already managed to get a PC running SteamVR to display on a Quest.

The only like task left is getting SteamVR to accept the controllers as a game input. They are the exact same exact controllers as Rift S so this won’t be hard. It’s been out less than a week. Time capsule this and come back in a year and we’ll have a wired USB setup working with Quest.

The only downside is it becomes WiFi dependent as if your WiFi signal dips you get visual corruption. Of course you still need just as good of a beefy PC as you need for a normal PCVR headset on top of needing good WiFi.

( and just to be clear having Good WiFi isn’t important for using a quest normally, it only needs it for games downloading)

I'm not really following the issue here. You don't need two different VR headsets, you just need to choose the set up that best suits you. If you want the higher powered gaming/PC set up, then get the Oculus Rift. If want to be free of a tether cable and are willing to give up some computing power, then get the Oculus Quest. I have no interest in the Rift, for instance, because I don't do intensive gaming and I value mobility above graphic resolution. The Quest is all I need to stay current.

The controllers work fine with VRidge, albeit a bit wonky because it treats them as Vive's stupid controllers and not Oculus Touch in terms of mapping and control. I spent about 30 minutes in Google Earth VR through VRidge.

I really need to figure out how people do those mixed reality recordings with the webcam/VR composite image.

Quest status: Still no quests within 3 hour drive. I won't order online in case I get bad screens.

You can sideload MinecraftVR but have to use a gamepad like the newer Xbox One controllers.

Going on two weeks now, and I'm working out at least once or twice a day on Beat Saber. I've also enjoyed the comfort of watching Netflix while sitting in my recliner. The experience itself isn't that much better, but it's more convenient.

One thing I've noticed: the screenshots from VR look a LOT crisper than what I'm seeing. There's very noticeable graininess in my view, although well within acceptable bounds for me. But when I see the comparison I wonder if there's something wrong with my headset or the VR photos are misleading.

Loaded up Bogo again today in Roomscale mode and discovered more layers of play that totally escaped me when I played it in Stationary mode. What a delightful little program! Very sweet and low-key.

I feel the same. I felt it more with the Oculus Go...

I've just been playing QUAKE on the Quest - wow! Who'd have thought I would be IN the game that used to scare me when I played it on PC!
(needs to be sideloaded - but worth setting up the sideload app - it only takes 15 minutes).

I ordered from Oculus - they promised delivery within 5 days and it came after 3 :)
