I'll be curious to see the data if crashes are becoming that much more common or they are getting more coverage... Crashes have gotten a lot less common over the last few decades. Hopefully we don't see a reversal in that trend.

Yeah, how crazy was that!

We’re having lots of sudden extreme wind gusts here. Wonder if it’s the same in Toronto

We had massive snowfalls back to back over past few days in Toronto area, with dangerous driving conditions. Wind gusts yesterday and today were also noted. Some flights had to be cancelled/delayed over past couple of days, but Toronto is Canada's busiest airport and many flights were waiting to land. Being winter, our pilots, crews and airports are familiar with this weather and trained to handle it. Crews were cleaning ground areas constantly with the snowfalls, and de-icing of craft is a given.
After this situation, some were rerouted and all departing/incoming flights were apparently paused for a time.
According to news reports, safety and rescue response on the ground was very rapid. It would be prematurely speculative as to whether climate conditions were a contributing factor. TSB of Canada will investigate.
