Great for anyone who wants to live the life of a late Victorian era miner . . . on Mars!
Remember the Pavonis Mons uprising of 2052? Man, that was a revolutionary event for the ages!

Just . . . wow.

There won't be much need for pick-and-shovel workers. Even on Earth coal mining is done with robots and giant machines. They will need maintenance techs.

It's going to take a while to get enough people and materials to the point where they're building giant machines.

Sure, but they don't *need* giant machines for a small population. Coal mining in Wyoming uses a giant excavator, and a giant dump truck where you have to climb up a flight of stairs to get to the cab. But small versions of these machines will fit in your garage. But even the little ones are not pick and shovel devices. They will also probably be remote controlled, so the operators don't constantly have to be exposed to radiation and torn spacesuits.

How many people do you need to build solar powered mining machines at any scale?

How many people do you need to build the solar cells?

How many people do you need to mine the dopants to build the solar cells?

A colony that's going to survive long term even with care packages from Earth is going to need to be pretty big. None of this Lost In Space Robinson Family stuff.

First step is getting to Mars alive and in good health. Nothing I've seen from Elon seems to address that essential part.

Scientists have discovered the 5th method of snake locomotion, which previously was completely unknown and baffled the scientists.

Snakes lasso-ing their way up on phone poles and such.

Biontech is developing a vaccine against multiple sclerosis. First conducted studies with mice so far do show encouraging results. Conducting first studies with humans seems within the reach of a few years.
