Eternal Recurrence

Nietzsche is one of those philosophers whose views are so widely known that it's generally considered unnecessary to go the time and inconvenience of reading them for yourself, which is rather a nuisance because, if you do bother to read Nietzsche, you discover what he says is nothing like what you'd been told to expect.

Bit like Machiavelli in that way.

Part of the company's statement
Despite its lineage, we have seen that the Black/Yellow/Yellow twin tipped shirt is taking on a new and very different meaning in North America as a result of its association with the Proud Boys. That association is something we must do our best to end. We therefore made the decision to stop selling the Black/Yellow/Yellow twin tipped shirt in the US from September 2019, and we will not sell it there or in Canada again until we’re satisfied that its association with the Proud Boys has ended.

To be absolutely clear, if you see any Proud Boys materials or products featuring our Laurel Wreath or any Black/Yellow/Yellow related items, they have absolutely nothing to do with us, and we are working with our lawyers to pursue any unlawful use of our brand.

Frankly we can’t put our disapproval in better words than our Chairman did when questioned in 2017:

“Fred was the son of a working class socialist MP who became a world tennis champion at a time when tennis was an elitist sport. He started a business with a Jewish businessman from Eastern Europe. It’s a shame we even have to answer questions like this. No, we don’t support the ideals or the group that you speak of. It is counter to our beliefs and the people we work with,” John Flynn, Fred Perry Chairman 2017

A schoolteacher whose body, face and tongue are covered in tattoos and who has had the whites of his eyes surgically turned black said he was prevented from teaching at a French kindergarten after a parent complained he scared their child.

But the teacher, Sylvain Helaine, 35, still teaches children from the age of six up, and said that, after an initial shock when they see him for the first time, his pupils see past his appearance.
No pun intended? Though he would have been speaking French...

So I should buy the remaining stock in bulk and sell it online to these idiots for exorbitant prices to give them a taste of the capitalism they so long for?

For the past four years, Marina Udgodskaya has scrubbed and mopped the offices of the local administration building in Povalikhino in rural Russia.
Now the 35-year-old cleaner is downing her dusters to move into the boss's seat, after winning an election earlier this month that she only entered to in order to get him reappointed.
When no-one in the village signed-up to challenge Nikolai Loktev, who's from the pro-Kremlin United Russia party, he persuaded Ms Udgodskaya to register as his "rival" to ensure the minimum requirement of two candidates.
That plan backfired when the cleaner beat him by a landslide.

I went over that waterfall in the '80s when net.suicide got attacked by trolls, in the '90s when the meowers spammed rec.pets and rec.food.recipes with increasingly nasty "dead cat recipes". There was never anything "fun" about trolls.

In the late '90s one of the big trolls of the '80s turned out to be a famous researcher, and he gave a conference talk about his trolling career and I was mortified that I seemed to be the only person in the audience who didn't think it was hilarious.

Trolling can be hilarious in small doses, but most people call that smart wits rather than trolling but technically it's the same ... in excess it's just annoying though...
