Want to RP a bad ass warrior? A sought after lady of the evening? Royalty? A great scientist? Owner of the popular tavern? Head of the thieves guild? A pirate captain? Go for it! ...but if the very same character did all those things, it often creates some practical problems.... For example, I remember this one person who would try to be a bartender at a popular joint on sim but they were extremely rude because they also needed to show they were a BAD ASS WARRIOR in addition to being the bartender and it was weird....
I've noticed this kind of thing in Gor. Everybody wants to be the badass or princess hot stuff. No, I never read the books. I think Gor is interesting from an digital anthropological perspective.
Dolcett doesn't suffer from this problem, though. If you don't know what it is and are squeamish or easily triggered by anything, do not look it up. Basically, winning and losing is sort of built into it a way that adverts a lot of the badasses and princess hot stuffs. The men generally eat the women, who want to be eaten. Ya, it's basically fetish cannibalism . . .
I know. Not everybody's bag of tea. And it's arguably very misogynistic. I use it for exploring identity and mortality and stuff, though. A character can go though all the simple stuff, while I still have a larger plot for them, that occasionally drips through. For instance, a basic scene could always happen with light references to my larger character plot, which often doesn't change the course of action but, can make for interesting backstory.
Basically, my plot for this is that a clone has began to recover past memories and rebel slightly against the dominate ideologies that it should embrace, meaning that while it has a desire to die to serve the community, it also has a desire to live to learn the truth. Later in the story line, I can just say whatever iteration of the clone escaped to some other sim/place and died and/or was re-cloned and shape whatever story around that into it, which usually allows others to drive the story for a scene however they want without creating any problems.
So my thoughts on how the badasses and princess hot stuffs always want to be the hero is that they should attempt to do more open and vague story-lines that include ways in which they fail and don't always win.
I don't know anything about elite RPing, though. I tend to avoid them.
Sorry, I thought this thread was interesting and made a post about people who RP eating eat other. I guess I don't have to hit the blue button. But I kind of just want to.
