In a press conference today the DFB announced the resignation of national soccer coach Julian Nagelsmann.

It was also stated that they are now trying to get Jürgen Klopp as successor.

Trump will hate this: Canada ordered 12 conventional powered submarines at a German defense company, TKMS (Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems).

It is the largest deal of that kind Canada ever made in history, est. about 20 billion Euros. Building will occur in Kiel and Wismar.

This is Jens Spahn. He is an important member of the conservative ruling party in Germany, having the whip in parliament. Some even say he's already working behind the scenes to become Merz' successor, which most likely would mean the CDU working together with the AfD. Merz strictly is against that, while a big chunk of the CDU including Spahn favors it now.

He's everything you would him expect to be in such a position: he's full of himself, arrogant and corrupt, in short your typical conservative asshole and Kotzbrocken. He literally wasted billions of tax euros without trial yet. He's also openly gay and married.

Now he's earned himself a new achivement: double standards. Turns out that he became father few days ago using a surrogate mother in the US. Spahn stated multiple times in the past the he is strictly against the legalisation of surrogate motherhood in Germany. Surrogate motherhood is forbidden in Germany, but Germans are allowed to do it in foreign countries, just like he did now.

Back in 2020 Spahn was the federal secretary of health, and vetoed the possibility of introducing surrogate motherhood in Germany.

Back in 2015 Spahn told:
"Als schwuler Mann und gläubiger Christ kann ich mich persönlich nur sehr schwer mit der Idee eines gemieteten Mutterbauchs anfreunden."

"As a gay man and a devout Christian, I personally find it very difficult to warm up to the idea of a rented womb."

So now first people are demanding him stepping down due to that, including leading members of the party in the federal states. The majority of the CDU is still against surrogate moterhood.

Jens Spahn stepped down today from his post as leader of the CDU's parliamentary group. The pressure and critic in his party became too overbearing.

He will remain a member of the Bundestag though, since he didn't resign from that as well.

"In recent days, I have come to realize that my personal happiness in starting a family with my husband and becoming a father is incompatible with my political office," Spahn said in a statement seen by news agencies.

After the announcement, Chancellor Merz said it was the called the decision both "correct" and "unavoidable," saying that "credibility is the most valuable asset in politics."

Merz went on to explain that he would now work with Markus Söder, the leader of the CDU's Bavarian sister party the Christian Social Union (CSU) to put forward proposal for a new parliamentary group chair.

“The procedure and timeline will now be coordinated with the party and parliamentary group committees," he said.
