23andMe User Data Stolen in Targeted Attack on Ashkenazi Jews | WIRED
As it happens, I'm one of the exposed customers for this data theft (confirmed by email from the company). I've got about 3% Ashkenazi Jew DNA, which is apparently how I was included in this user pool. Since then, even more user data has been announced as compromised, this time for British origins, so I would be touched one way or another.
Meh. I reviewed the feature that was scraped (DNA Relatives), and my haplogroup is now public knowledge. I'm not exactly shaking in my bootd.
