If you have someone who guides you trough the beginnings of SL in world, that helps a lot.New people often seem averse to reading the Knowlwdge Base, which answers at least 90% of their questions. Google answers most of the rest.
It’s a bit like the people who come in the LL forum and ask how to build a rocket ship in Blender. If you have someone who guides you trough the beginnings of SL in world, that helps a lot.
SL is overwhelming when you first visit.
So the OP asks a valid question IMHO.
That not everybody is willing or able to do so, and that some see trolls behind every newby post, that is likely to happen.
There are several ways but the most popular method seems to be:By the way, how does one build a rocket ship in Blender? (Asking for a friend.)
Then come to the forum claiming to have just built your first object, the Starship Enterprise, with a million tris, and wondering why you can't upload it properly.
I think the main issue is that a lot of people over the years that have joined SLU/VVO seem to use it soley as a resorce and not the community it is and that can lead to resentment.
I mean it has for me, there is a reason I don't really welcome new users. Whats the point of welcoming new people if you're never going to see them again?
That being said its good to hear they joined the slu discord.
