The new theme is (as was speculated for months) a ranch theme. And they have 2048 parcels for PP+.
I find them very middle of the road and too traditional American again.
A bit too much like we already have plenty from in Bellisseria.
I almost used the words predictable and boring.
But I'm in a good SL20B mood so I won't.
;)

The theme has country roads:

Yeah, more Americana, even American I was thinking about how non-American residents might want more diverse themes.

I wouldn't even call them Ranch, they're more Farmhouses or Country houses.

The theme has country roads:

I like the regions themselves, if they were flatter and less dense they'd remind me of here in Illinois. The houses themselves...well....they're not "bad", but not "exciting". Even one that looked more like the Little House on the Prairie house or the house on the Waltons would have been less "meh". Are you going to do addons for the somewhat bland open-plan ones?

When I saw the night sky over SL20B, I thought that LL had fooled us all with that speculation over the upcoming ranch theme and that they would anounce a space/futuristic theme. That would be something totally different.

Americans are the largest group in SL, but the majority of users lives outside the USA.
It seems that it is hard for LL to wrap their heads around that fact.

Even the Chalet theme, that is supposed to be European, is an American version of how the Lab thinks European countryside looks like.
And on the other forums someone from Japan wrote, that is the same with the Japanese theme.

The ranch theme is neat, but would be better if unocupied homes were flat land, to better push the country lifestyle angle.

I'd like to see some stylish bunkers.

Seriously though, it would be nice to see some areas dedicated to high density living as well.

The ranch theme is Permium Plus only, so I'm not peeved at all any more.
Premium plus only means for me the same as non existent. I ain't gonna shell out that kind of money for a linden home.

I have thought about how they could do a city apartment style home since land ownership doesn't work vertically.

Maybe each plot is a tall building with ana aprtment, the apartments would have different floors for variety, and the rest of the building is just an unreachable zone.

Maybe have an exit to a hall with a teleporting elevator to the ground with a city landscape.

Basically, you get your own skyscraper(ish) building, but the actual "usable space" is just one apartment.

EA did that in Sims 4. lol Not what most of us expected or wanted but... it'll do pig. Yes we got farming too! And the next release is HORSES!! Of course, that happens when I'm broke and haven't gone back to work (ugh) yet.

Anyway, people already kind of do that with skyboxes. Or at least my old landlord did. Only on mainland I guess. lol

The ranch appealed to me at first. I was after something more roomier and open plan than the other types of homes and one of the ranch designs hit the spot, but then I saw it was for premium plus only.
It would be nice too if they could give us the TP coordinates to some example sims to see the themes.

I guess I'll just stay in my Meadowbrook home until the Lindens start culling some of the older styles/sims (if they ever will).

Some themes have been updated over the last months.
Traditional homes are available with open floor plans now. There are some new lovely houseboats. I don't know if the Victorian houses are face lifted yet, but that is certainly in the pipeline.

You can see examples of all the different styles of houses at the BelliDemo region

Yesterday Patch Linden reacted to a post of mine about this on the official forums. He says that the houseboat theme is inspired on the Dutch houseboats.

There is nothing wrong with the houseboat theme, I like it a lot, but the boats and the scenery has as much resemblance with our houseboats and the Dutch landscape as the Copacabana or Yosemite Park.

That's where I saw the ranch designs and rezzed the demos (it was the next sim over from the empty 'social' casino, so I went to explore).
I meant I wanted to see the setting of a whole sim/neighbourhood. As I have some outdoor decor ideas and I don't want them to look out of place.
I managed to find some of them on the map last night so I'm satisfied now.

We want something like this in RL having lived in hundred-plus-year-old houses for the past thirty-five years. Once huge, windowed, studio space, with a bit of privacy for bed and bath, and covered parking FTW.

I have one of those Newbrook homes. There are a lof of add on parts you can mix and match for them. I added a backyard pool and patio and front side car park for a while. Also a small bathroom on the second floor before I change the house style.

If anyone else is looking for them, find Gorgeous Aurelia Dream on the map. It's the regions North and West of there (including a block of 12 to the west that opened yesterday but don't seem to be on the map yet)
