I just read a report (haven't verified it yet), that his wife was stopped by police and they found ammo, money and passports in the trunk of her car. Makes me think she was on her way to help him make that escape.

11:27 a.m. - Acting U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Joe Thompson said a police officer in New Hope saw Vance Boelter at another state senator’s home on Saturday between his alleged shooting of John and Yvette Hoffman and the killing of Melissa and Mark Hortman.

Thompson said the officer pulled up on Boelter in his police-style SUV and assumed he had been dispatched to the scene to perform a wellness check. When the officer asked Boelter what he was doing, he simply stared straight ahead, Thompson said. The New Hope police officer then left Boelter to continue on with the wellness check.

Thompson said that he believes Boelter was wearing a mask when he interacted with New Hope police.

This could have turned out even worse. Or if the officer in New Hope realized something was amiss with Boelter, maybe less worse.

If I properly understand the quote, the officer from the New Hope police stopped to ask Boelter, whom he assumed was another police officer performing a wellness check, what he was doing. Boelter, who is though to have been wearing a mask, simply ignores him, and stares straight on ahead.

Far from finding this behaviour sufficiently suspicious that it merited further investigation, the New Hope police officer simply left him to get on with things.
