I think it is pretty much DOA when one looks at certain points in of the SDK license:

3.5 Inspection and Review. Upon completion of each Avatar Item, Licensee shall submit such Avatar Item to Linden Lab (in such form and format as Linden Lab may require) for review and approval upon Linden Lab’s request. Licensee shall fully cooperate with Linden Lab in the course of such review and approval, providing to Linden Lab such information and assistance as Linden Lab deems desirable.

3.6 Audit. Licensee hereby agrees to keep reasonable, written records in the English language regarding this Agreement, Licensee’s use of the SDK Materials, and the creation and status of all Avatar Items (“Records”). During the Term and for one (1) year thereafter, Linden Lab shall have the right to obtain true and correct copies of all such Records, and to audit such Records (either by itself, or through a reputable third-party accounting firm) to confirm Licensee’s performance of and compliance with the terms of this Agreement.

4.3 Restrictions. In order to protect Linden Lab’s trade secrets and other rights in the SDK Materials, Licensee agrees not to: (a) modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble (except and solely to the extent an applicable statute expressly and specifically prohibits such restrictions) any portion of the SDK Materials; or (b) create derivative works of any of the SDK Materials. Licensee also agrees not to disclose any of the SDK Materials.

The Senra content unpacker should not deliver content for any other body/head/ecosystem.

Sigh..... LL style.

Added: Patch Linden clarified on the other forums, that 3.5 and 3.6 only applies when one wants their creation in the official LL senra program (library, landing point shop etc).
Everybody who applies seems to get the dev kit.

Patch says a lot on a long day... his words are not legally binding, the license however is

Nice touch, that the guy who starts the video above is not using a Senra body.

But hey, all and all I think it is an improvement compared with what we had so far for new members.
Especially when user made Senra stuff will start to hit the market.

But it will not replace the jungle of bodies, heads, appliers and all the abracadabra that is needed to be somewhere near par in SL.
That was where I was hoping for: Standardization of the body again, just like with the classic avatar, with good working sliders.
It will not happen, because the Senra bodies have to many small flaws as far as even I as a non fashionista can judge things at the moment.

Damn, they have been working two years on this........ Must have been assigned to a one person team I guess......... who worked part time.

Kitty summary:

bad things:
  • Introduction video is started by hipster video tutor who is way too smuck to wear the noob body himself, nothing shows confidence in your creation like refusing to use it yourself
  • Noobs gotta wear da NOOB™ tag on all their clothes, because why wouldn't they? BRAND THOSE NOOBZ!
  • LL forgot to bribe the leading clothing designers into supporting Senra until it catches on (because why learn from the big mesh body brands?)
  • Senra fitmesh is not rigged for Senra (stay away from those shape sliders)
good thing:
  • Unorthodox as they have always been LL found a new way for inspiring creators. By setting the bars so low LL triggers the "I'm not really good at creating, but even I could do better" crowd.
interesting thing:
  • Official Forums threads can be set to moderated, where every post gets examined by mods before being published. Never before seen this happen but looks like Patch didn't want to nuke his own thread.

Like for clothes? Isn't that the point of clothes made for specific bodies, the sliders etc work/match?

Apparently not? At least two folks over in official Forums reported that occurrence...
Then why bother.

I will have to check it out. Maybe its only a problem at the entremes? I get that even with like, Lara. Bottoms are REALLY BAD on a lot of bodies with any sort of body fat/belly slider. Even wearing an alpha layer it will often leave a chopped off shelf.

I kind of wish they could actually like, "fitting fitmesh". Where you wear bottoms, and it just, conforms to the later underz then wear a top and it conforms to whatever is under, uncliding pants. Too often tops will clip through bottoms at the waist.

My current perception is that this is not something to migrate to from my Ruth slider avatar.

One of my posts did not come trough, although I thought it only contained mild criticism
So there you go, I posted it in this thread.
Now what Patch?

One of the posts I read this morning said something about copying the whole folder to Inventory. Maybe that's the key to some of the issues.

I only played with it briefly so far but why are the default shorts SOOO LONG.

Also, skin tight-ish.

I will probably mess with it later, and the male version later.

I've seen a lot of pictures by now on the official forums.

1. many people over there are mediocre shape designers
and/or
2. The Senra bodies are really DOA.

I know where I leave them: In the Library.

I suppose not - it doesn't seem to me that these avatars are meant for us, people who already have mesh bodies and clothes that we've paid probably a fair amount of coin for. They are starter avatars, and they don't really seem to be trying to be anything more than that, to me?

Maybe I'm just not jaded enough, lol. I think this is an actual opportunity for clothing makers who want to seize it. A newbie who has decided that it's time to spend a bit to upgrade to a Belleza is going to remember that they got their favorite Senra shirt from your shop and they're going to come back to see if you have a Belleza version of it - and while they're there, they just might have a look around to see what else you've got.

One positive thing: Users will have invested time into customizing their avatar - this will make them more attached to it, giving it a "me" feeling. Sadly the options are very limited, even compared to The Sims which clearly inspired the new Senra customizer.

Huh. Maybe someone finally listened to all my whining about wanting SL to be more of a cross between The Sims, Empyrion and... well... SL.

Nah.

Ok, I played around with these a bit, nothing too serious, just some random combinations of stuff I had with the new bodies, and I'll throw out some comments and images here. PS, there are non explicit naked avatars here, so I guess it's sort of NSFW?

For what it's worth, this is my normal Avatar, with a Lara body and Lelutka Lily head.

Here is the Senra body, nude, with the same shape (My shape is custom made by me). The hips seem a little wider, the whole thing seems a bit skinnier. Spoiler because of avatar nudity.

The neck seam seems alright with my Lelutka head.

This has nothing to do with the new bodies other than when switching to the Senra head I got to view this horror hiding under my mesh head and now I'm inflicting it on you.

A lot of the clothes have these clip through spots in them. It's fixed by wearing an alpha layer of course, but it feels like clothing rigged for a body really should not require an alpha layer.

Pregnant belly sizes work pretty well in a variety of sizes. A lot of the time the belly slider makes for this weird pointy shelf looking thing.

There isn't a lot of hair style choices available and from what I tested, the male and female versions use the same hairs. Each has about a dozen color choices and they are alright, but not amazing.

All of the skin options are really bad. Or at least, extremely plain. My normal skin and make up layers all looked weird on this head though (above).
Also related, most of the shape options are bad, at least for the faces. The bodies are ok-ish, though the arms felt a bit too short and the necks feel too long. At least for the women's options.

The men's options are kind of worse, at least when naked. There isn't any geneitalia but I'll spoiler them too. They all come off as too long in the torso to me and they all have this odd bowlegged-ness. There were a variety of "styles" though from skinnier to muscled to this one chubbier dude. They are also all a bit too tall on the male bodies.

Interestingly, like the hairs, and skins, the clothes are actually replicated across men and women too. So your dude can wear the pencil skirt if you want. This actually kind of explains why the women's shorts are so long and ugly, because they are the same as the men's shorts.

Dude looks a lot better with clothes on for sure.

Anyway, it was starting to feel weird so back to normal. Thank got I remebered to save an outfit before swapping things on and off.

Tried it briefly, was hoping I had found a way to finally update my avatar without tackling the learning curve. Nope.
Really thought for a while it was just another old system avatar, the skin was that lousy, and the neck seemed long and the head small.
