I have a theory.......
When we were kids, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed like it dragged on forever! As soon as those first hints at the jolly season arrived, we couldn't wait for the big day. As we got older, that time started to shrink, especially as we had families of our own, and the frenetic pace of the season started to feel waaaaay too short. I remember hearing friends start saying they finished their Christmas shopping in July or something, very proud that they had not succumbed to the panic of December shopping. Now that I'm in my 60s, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is gone in a heartbeat it seems. I completely understand why people want to start early and have longer to enjoy it.
