Doe this thread's title mean we have to create another one when we get closer to the damn holiday?

never!
Thankfully, radio is not yet infested (mostly)* but two of the 'free to air' channels have been showing up to 7 basically 'template copyright a certain greetings card company' xmas dross films since the beginning of November. It is actually worse than last year. Now I am all for the telly being off but I am not in charge:)

Best guess is Viaplay bought a whole shedful when they were drunk and is now forced to show them before allowed to buy anything else. Or someone has some компромат. I hear the TV biz can be rough. Even worse, all english language and not even a rudimentary attempt at subtitles - that is rare. As they are inflicting them on Denmark And Norway I reckon they couldn't be arsed.

* Oh Viaplay does have a Julkanalen 'radio' channel. I just found it. Sigh

Damn radio stations in my area are already playing 24/7 Christmas music! Thank God for Spotify!

I have a theory.......

When we were kids, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed like it dragged on forever! As soon as those first hints at the jolly season arrived, we couldn't wait for the big day. As we got older, that time started to shrink, especially as we had families of our own, and the frenetic pace of the season started to feel waaaaay too short. I remember hearing friends start saying they finished their Christmas shopping in July or something, very proud that they had not succumbed to the panic of December shopping. Now that I'm in my 60s, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is gone in a heartbeat it seems. I completely understand why people want to start early and have longer to enjoy it.
