There is a historic precedant for past presidents to give sitting presidents the respect due their office
"was". There was a historic precedent. Presuming Presidunce T-Rump's heart manages to outlive his term(s) in office... it's obvious he's lowered the bar for 'presidential behavior' so far that this and countless other things are now 'history'.

He's not my choice, but a 12 year old used car with fender damage is not my choice, either, and I really wanted a Prius. But this is all I can get. Or I can sit home and wait until I get a pony winning lottery ticket.
Ain't that the truth. "If I can't have Jed Bartlett as my candidate, well, I'll just sit on my hands and let the guy with 25+ charges of sexual misconduct against him stay in the white house rather than holding my nose and voting for a guy with one."

Maybe it's moral relativism to compromise one's own integrity to support the lessor of two evils... but when the stakes are literally -lives- of humans in this nation and around the world... isn't it more evil to sit by and do nothing and allow the worse of two evils a better chance of carrying on?

To me, its more than that. It is to me (as a survivor) just as awful to believe every story no matter how many times the person telling it has lied or changed it. Every survivor I personally know - and I do acknowledge there are almost certainly others who feel differently - feels this makes it harder for women in the future to be taken seriously when they speak out. Life is not black and white. A charge should be investigated. It should be vetted. If its veracity can be proven, it should matter. But, for the millions of women and men who do wait years or even decades to tell their stories, this isn't a help. When most survivors finally speak, their story doesn't change constantly unless they are having memory issues. They don't usually get gleeful and hint about revelations. Its not about that. Its about personal pain and finding the courage to stand up. Nothing about this whole changing story feels like courage. The strange issues with Putin and the hiring of a lawyer who is a big Trump donor are further giant red flags. The lawyer isn't even being paid. Just no. We aren't this stupid and we shouldn't put real survivors in the position of having to defend their own claims based on the fallout from this.

Democrats. Please stop shooting your feet. There won't be enough left to wear shoes anymore if you keep this up.

It ends up mattering regardless because it impacts public opinion, one way or another. And if it's not possible to prove one of them is not reporting/remembering truthfully, then what? We just accept that the truth/false status is locked up in a box we can't open along with Shrodinger's Cat?

This "They're both telling the truth as they know it" thing is doing to undermine support for his chance at the white house and probably end up handing the next 4 years back to Trump. Presuming he and his cronies haven't already completely undermined our elections with voter suppression, gerrymandering, russian influence and who knows what else.

I wonder... does it help or hurt Biden that most liberals feel the need to repeat over and over again how "Biden was not my first choice but..."? Meanwhile, Trump has a lot of supporters who are genuinely very, VERY enthusiastic about him. I kind of think democrats need to fake more enthusiasm for Biden... Historically democrats have done better with the "young exciting" candidates like JFK, Bill Clinton or Obama. We didn't get one this time around, but maybe we need to fake it.

On the other hand... maybe we can also spin it as a good thing that the "far left" doesn't like Biden since so many Americans are still so terrified of socialism. I don't care how we win, I just want Trump out.

You mean pretend that Biden is young and exciting?

Wow. Good luck with that.
You probably win several Oscar nominations if you can achieve that.
He is the better choice between the two remaining candidates, but that really is all IMHO.

If you can't stand Biden, and are butt hurt because your candidate of choice didn't get the win, you have to ask yourself:

Would you rather have Biden in office, or continue with Trump?

Biden has faults. He currently has scandal. But he was Veep for eight years and none of that scandal came out then. Yes, he can be a bit of a snoozer as candidates go. BUT, he doesn't have over 30 credible sexual misconduct/rape/harassment charges against him, he won't violate the Emoluments Claus at every opportunity, he won't nominate unqualified people for important positions in government, and Ruth Bader can finally retire.

Seriously, we need to put her into a hyperbaric chamber till Trump is gone, because we don't need another Uber Conservative Criminal in the SCOTUS.

Would you rather Biden or Trump? Because those are your choices. A third party vote or a write in is a vote for Trump.

You can vote your conscience, or you can vote Trump out. Your choice.

I know what my answer is. Biden wasn't my first choice, but I did vote for him in the Primaries because he has a greater chance at winning the Oval against the Urine-flavored candy floss-haired malignant shit funnel currently occupying the Oval Office.

That has always been my question mark and the scandal thing. If it happened in the 90s, why didn't it surface while he was Veep or during the campaign? Me Too was a thing already. The Republicans surely looked for anything they could use to torpedo Obama's presidency.
Forget about getting excited about Biden, isn't getting rid of Dump and emerging from this nightmare enough to root for?

Jed! A strong democrat from NH with a disability? Hell yeah!!!

Even though I am a total Bernie fan and DC will vote for any Democrat anyways without my vote I will vote for Biden anyway. Which is why the allegations against him are so annoying.

What we need is a strong third party candidate from the republican/libertarian/former-tea-party side to split -their- vote instead of another Bernie or Nader, or whoever cleaving away support for a viable candidate on our side.

Honestly, I'm fairly excited about Biden, not as a first choice [and I'm still mad that he and Bernie forcesd out all the really solid female candidates], but...

Name any other candidate in the last 100 years that had endorsements from a wing of THE OTHER MAJOR PARTY?

Also, when it comes to it, he's adaptable, and willing to consider going where the win blows on leaning left.

And when the first things listed on your campaign page are fixing our truly fucked criminal justice system? When you are willing to address the mammoth in the room? I see why he did so well.

Because the rest of us don't need a bunch mostly male 'progressives' telling what's important to the rest of us, and how if we'd all just worship saint Bernie everything would be a-ok.

Has he been asleep the last few years?
He was happy to keep quiet and let Trump blame him for everything, because it kept Trump mostly off the backs of other Democrats. That worked out well in the mid-term elections. He also didn't want to be seen as leaning on the party to choose his former VP as the next candidate. Now that Biden is pretty clearly the candidate, he's going "public" with his remarks. Note that his recent comments were in a private call with former staffers, rather than a public YouTube or Twitter blast directly from him. But he knew someone would leak it. That way he has plausible deniability.

He's also been giving about 50 speeches a year at around $200K each. That's how former presidents cash in.

Yup, he gave one in NL as well for that kind of money.
Now if 45 wants to come and do the same after he looses the next elections, he can score two free bus tickets and an apple for lunch at most.

I know who Trump reminds me of -- Horatio Bottomley, British politician and swindler of 100 years ago.

I remember my father talking about him, as an example of a corrupt jingoistic populist.

Horatio William Bottomley (23 March 1860 – 26 May 1933) was an English financier, journalist, editor, newspaper proprietor, swindler, and Member of Parliament. He is best known for his editorship of the popular magazine John Bull, and for his patriotic oratory during the First World War. His career came to a sudden end when, in 1922, he was convicted of fraud and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment.

He has the nuke codes.

Yow ... I doubt most people on twitter break 10 most days. Maybe 20 once in awhile. The only reason to break 100 is if you have absolutely nothing to do. What is he up to these days that gives him this much free time?

Based on his bio details, at least he was competent at his business endeavors. So Trump is a bargain-basement Bottomley.
