While most normal people would, I am sure, be able to resist the temptation to win a meal with Individual 1 (one of the supposed prizes is breakfast with him... breakfast with Donald Trump ?) it seems many people are not.

And it seems -- you could have knocked me down with a feather when I found out -- the prizes in this fund-raising scam are illusory, because of course they would be:

A series of contests for donors to Donald Trump’s election campaign to win a prize of sharing breakfast, lunch or dinner with the US president have been condemned as a “fraud”.

Media reports this week have cast doubt on whether the competitions produce real winners, fueling speculation that Trump, accused of swindling the public in past ventures such as Trump University, is at it again.

Richard Painter, a former White House chief ethics lawyer, spoke out amid deepening questions over the fundraising lotteries that, so far, the Trump campaign has been unable to answer.

“I’ve received dozens of these fundraising emails,” said Painter, who was George W Bush’s ethics counsel for two years. “If they have lunch or dinner, then it’s OK. If not, then it’s fraud. I’ve seen no proof that they actually happen.”

Remember how there was some fuss about a Russian commentator describing Trump as "ours" just after the elections?

"Ours," наше , has a specific connotation in Russian, at least when applied to a foreigner.

It goes back to the Cheka and the NKVD, for whom it meant "ours" in a somewhat contemptuous way, as in "we own him, and when we tell him to jump, he asks, 'off which building?' ".

So the benefit to Trump of attending is that, if Mr Putin has told him to and he does attend, then he won't have to jump off the top of Trump Tower, or not just yet, anyway, since that would be the best alternative to Putin releasing whatever he has on the Trump family.

I cannot even imagine what breakfast with The Orange One would be like... like perhaps a silver platter of still-wrapped Egg McMuffins, and watching Trump greedily stuffing his face with them?

Not sure how much credence to give the allegations, given their provenance and their inherent unverifiability, but it looks like a fun read at least.

I kind of like "The Apprentice: Club Fed" (you know he'll go to one of those kind of prisons, but hey, as long as he's locked up).
Because of the risk that his cult followers will try to break him out of prison, I suggest they put him somewhere hard to get to, like Guantanamo. Second choice would be the same high-security cell that Jeffrey Epstein died in. He'll feel right at home in lower Manhattan. If the cell window faces the right way, he can even see his office building on Wall Street.

Since he is a stochastic terrorist, that would be appropriate, but it seems likely that the law isn't written that way and/or that a judge and jury would go there. We'll be lucky if he gets anywhere near the penalty be deserves.

There is a supermax prison south of Denver that sounds secure. It holds El Chapo, Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui, Terry Nichols from the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The prisoners are confined for around 23 hours a day to a solitary cell that has a narrow window about 42 inches (107 cm) high and angled upward so only the sky is visible.

Prisoners cannot move around without being escorted. Head counts are done at least six times a day.
