Same, yeah.

Mesh was a bit of a different beast, though. I rolled my own mesh avatar with an outfit within a week and I got yelled at for being rude by someone with a 'Phoenix 1185 Forever' group and a number of people just stopped coming into SL, they just disappeared. With PBR you can just turn all that shit off and sure there will be some builders who stop putting a normal diffuse/norm/spec layer on products, but that's why you buy modify/look at demos.

On a similar note, I heard something in the past about fallback textures being a temporary fix but that long term they will be removed. Not Blinn altogether, but having both on the same object.

Is there any official as to system requirements SPECIFICALLY RELATED to pbr? Thanks.

Circling back on this, even if there is no official guidance I'd like some recommendations for something affordable that runs PBR halfway decently. I don't need a full-blown gaming rig, I just want to keep up with what works for Second Life. I do need to seriously upgrade and will spend what's necessary on something affordable (looking at FB Marketplace used, primarily).

Thanks.

Thanks.

Nobody has released official requirements that I've heard. I know the latest firestorm is A LOT better than the first PBR update. ...but it still helps a lot if you have a proper gaming GPU and not some old toaster. I run a 3090 and the new version runs pretty nicely for me.

Yeah, I'll be buying used also. One, I'm cheap, two, except for SL I don't use anything that needs that kind of power, and three, I'll let someone else pay the "guilt tax" for buying something made in China, and marked up by an exploitative tech company which uses rare earths from a conflict zone using labor whose second job is picking through landfills. Gotta love late-stage capitalism :(

In regards to Govi's lolWut reaction: I consider every purchase we make as bearing not only an economic cost but a misery cost as well, whether it's labor exploitation (up to and including debt-slavery), harm to the environment, the forcing out of small businesses by large corporations, forcing farmers to pay exorbitant costs for their agricultural inputs while giving them no say in the prices they receive, etc. By buying used that cost has already been paid by the original consumer and I am contributing no additional harm.
