To us Germans, November 9th is that date when stuff happens.
Exactly 100 years ago on this day, the Weimar Republic was proclaimed, ending monarchy in Germany.
It's the 80th anniversary of the November pogroms. The date was picked by the Nazis because of the Beer Hall putsch, which ended on Nov 9th 1923, and because it's Martin Luther's birthday.
Then, 29 years ago on this day, the Berlin Wall came down, ending the Cold War.
I'm not quite sure how to feel about this day, but it seems like a good idea to stay inside and try to avoid going outside, especially when you're in Berlin.
What would you make of it?
