Interesting survey on UK voter 'Clans'

Seen in the Independent this morning The 10 British political clans that hold the keys to next election. If you can't get that article, go direct to How big are the UK's voter clans and how do they vote? instead.

I took the survey and came out as belonging to the "Global Green Community". I'd long thought of myself as a "wishy-washy liberal", but perhaps I'm now less 'wishy-washy' than I thought. My own lifetime political journey has gone from very left-wing, anti-vietnam etc., when I was a young man; through conservative with a small 'c' until my early middle-age (Orgreave and the like were a key pivot point in moving away from my parent's politics); swinging back towards the Left (mainly voting Liberal, except for the odd Independent); Until I've now (in post-retirement old age) swung back to the political views of my youth.

I didn't take the survey (not from the UK) but your post had me curious about my own leanings so I took the '2018 I Side With' one just now.

2018 Political Quiz

There's one made for each country. Or rather, you can choose your country at the top. So USA, Germany, UK, etc....

They give you the choice on how elaborate you want it to be - how much time you are willing to give it. I took the extended version by choosing ''other stances'' and always choosing more questions on all the subjects. Anyhow, the results were interesing if not surprising.

The results are much more elaborate at the site but these were mine in a nutshell:

(ETA: We have more parties in Canada than those above, they're just not seen here because I obviously don't in any way lean they're way.)

Seems like I am a "wishy-washy liberal" but despite that I've tended to vote Labour (when not tactically voting further left). We don't have the equivalent of the Liberal Democrats here... unless one considers Labour to be partly filling that space.

It thinks I'm a socialist leaning U.S. Democrat. I'm actually somewhat less socialist leaning and somewhat "progress libertarian" but the poll choice were 1. spend money to fix problems or 2. don't spend money, don't fix problems. (3) fix problems by thinking out of the box was not offered as a choice .
