So last month, after close to 7 years of hard use, my instant pot stopped keeping pressure. After much troubleshooting, seems a tiny piece inside the bottom had failed. It just involved opening it all up, unsoldering bits, wriggling the bad part out of the tiny spot and shoving the new one in and closing it all up. Sadly beyond my skill level now as I don't have fine motor control in my right hand so a good soldering job is out of my skill set now.
So I did the next best thing, bought the new version of it off of Amazon that happened to be on sale for like 33% off. So it arrived, was unboxed and I tried a pressure test and guess what? It failed! Fresh out of the box it had the same issue. So I got another one as I returned the fresh yet defective pos.
So the new one arrived, was unboxed, certified fresh from factory and loaded up with water to do the pressure test. Guess what? IT FUCKING FAILED!!!
Two brand new ones shipped with the same issue as my old one developed. So, another call for a refund.
Then I decided to try a higher model. It arrived yesterday, was unboxed with dread and set up for the pressure test. Guess what? IT PASSED! So I can make yogurt again, have steel cut oats and so much more! YAY!
Since Instant Pot was sold off to another company, quality control is pretty much in the crapper. So just be prepared for returns if you get one.
