It is a dangerous endeavour though, there was this guy trying to restore democracy by murdering the wannabe king. He basically ended up cementing the newly risen authoritarian leadership style. History did not consider him a great person either, or how do you remember Brutus from school?

Oh indeed. The point however was that once pushed to that point, the aftermath is the furthest thing from people's minds.

The trick would have been not coming to that point. Drawing historical analogies the US might not be far away from the point when Caesar deanded (and was granted) dictatorship for live.

Try something radical, if you are about to break the constitution anyways... make Schwarzenegger president - just joking ;)

Certainly, and events will, after a certain point, take their course, with blind chaotic chance playing a huge role in both their course and their outcome.

But it really isn't an outcome anyone wants, as anyone in Northern Ireland would tell you.
