Looks like some people here don't like International Law. Meh.
I often wonder what makes apologists for Israeli gov murderous actions take the stance they do. I came up with:
1. An attempts to assuage the fear inculcated over the years, including from family history passed down by holocaust survivors. I can certainly understand this and deplore that absolutely evil episode of history. Fair enough.
2. Faux News watcher-types, most of whom have no direct connection to or understanding of the Jewish faith, but hate yellow, black and brown people including, of course, Muslims. May have many other unsociable habits threatening to any who aren’t like them.
3. The biggest and by far the most depressing group are those fooled by decades of Israeli gov propaganda, to the point they have abandoned all use of common sense and become very gullible, swallowing whatever message the Israeli gov wishes to push via western media and staged news events designed to cover up other damaging news reports.
My lovely older girlfriend told me how her pastor father, now long deceased, visited Israel on a Baptist church trip when she was a teenager. Following this trip, he gushed about how the Israelis had made the empty deserts bloom. He was not a stupid man. I’ve studied his poetry; it’s beautiful and sensitive, laced with insights gained from hard-fought battles with himself to understand his spiritual nature and place in the world. Certainly no bigot.
As I've said before, don't feel bad, even US Pres Biden repeated the dead babies lie. Think about that for a moment. Blood libel if I've ever heard any, as scurrilous as any aimed at Jews.
I have felt an uncomfortable prickling sensation at the back of my neck, warning me that any who don’t bow down before the so-called ‘christian’ nationalist agenda ravaging the US, even many reading this post, will not have an easy time in the coming decades should Rump gain another term. We’re not only being othered, but also demonized. I noted a Hindu prayer offered at the recent RNC was decried as “blasphemous”.
The world needs unity among its diverse more than ever now, to show Rump, Erdogan, Putin, Netanyahu and others like them their rules can and must end.
Anyone still think the conflict in Palestine is mostly over religion? And not covering Netanyahu’s ass politically, and pushing Palestinians into Egypt’s Sinai Desert with land grabs related to doing dark deals with shady Saudi princes for Palestinian oil, gas and real estate resources? Yes? Then I have a charming
Hamas duty roster Islamic calendar to sell you.

Diversionary tactics (Jews vs the Muslims, Blacks vs the Whites, Poors vs the Wealthy) work great (Covid deaths, Rump elected, Brexit done) To quote the words of the late great Freddie Mercury, “Baby, you’ve been had.”
Less-than subtle press efforts to excuse and erase the Israeli murder, etc, of Palestinians include the language many western media outlets use, especially in their headlines.
More censorship
These represent just a small sample of the numerous NYT headlines I’ve corrected over the last eight months. And it’s not just the New York Times. Many mainstream Western news outlets have failed Palestinians in their coverage of the war. I’ve ‘fixed’ headlines from Reuters, the BBC, ABC News, and others. But what makes the NYT so appalling is the paper’s status in the U.S. as one of the oldest and most respected publications – the so-called paper of record.
