One heavily censored topic is the IDF use of the Hannibal directive, especially multiple times on 7 October to ensure there were no accusations IDF fire was responsible for IDF and Israeli hostage deaths.
Haaretz shows Hannibal directive employed at three sites to prevent kidnapping of soldiers during 7 October assault

In the initial chaos of the Hamas attack on Israel’s armed forces employed what is known as the Hannibal protocol, a directive to use force to prevent the kidnapping of soldiers even at the expense of hostages’ lives, according to a report.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/jul/07/israel-idf-hannibal-protocol-hamas-attack-haaretz

"No vehicles can be allowed to return to Gaza"

This was not the first order given by the division with the intent of foiling kidnapping even at the expense of the lives of the kidnapped, a procedure known in the army as the "Hannibal procedure."
https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-07-07/ty-article-magazine/.premium/idf-ordered-hannibal-directive-on-october-7-to-prevent-hamas-taking-soldiers-captive/00000190-89a2-d776-a3b1-fdbe45520000

Evidence that deaths of Israelis were attributable to IDF fire was conveniently eased, including by the highly questionable and unsuitably-trained ZAKA members, who recovered many bodies for immediate burial ostensibly to ensure compliance with Jewish religious customs while making sure no evidence (IDF tank shells cause different damage to bodies than Hamas operative weapons) was available to any investigation.

The Hague court found Israel was in breach of article 3 of the international convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination (CERD), which says: “Parties particularly condemn racial segregation and apartheid and undertake to prevent, prohibit and eradicate all practices of this nature in territories under their jurisdiction.”
Salam said: “The court observes that Israel’s legislation and measures impose and serve to maintain a near-complete separation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem between the settler and Palestinian communities. For this reason, the court considers that Israel’s legislation and measures constitute a breach of article 3 of CERD.”

In a nutshell: Israel IS an Apartheid regime. There's no room for manoeuvres, excuses, and logical contortionism left.

Looks like some people here don't like International Law. Meh.
I often wonder what makes apologists for Israeli gov murderous actions take the stance they do. I came up with:

1. An attempts to assuage the fear inculcated over the years, including from family history passed down by holocaust survivors. I can certainly understand this and deplore that absolutely evil episode of history. Fair enough.

2. Faux News watcher-types, most of whom have no direct connection to or understanding of the Jewish faith, but hate yellow, black and brown people including, of course, Muslims. May have many other unsociable habits threatening to any who aren’t like them.

3. The biggest and by far the most depressing group are those fooled by decades of Israeli gov propaganda, to the point they have abandoned all use of common sense and become very gullible, swallowing whatever message the Israeli gov wishes to push via western media and staged news events designed to cover up other damaging news reports.

My lovely older girlfriend told me how her pastor father, now long deceased, visited Israel on a Baptist church trip when she was a teenager. Following this trip, he gushed about how the Israelis had made the empty deserts bloom. He was not a stupid man. I’ve studied his poetry; it’s beautiful and sensitive, laced with insights gained from hard-fought battles with himself to understand his spiritual nature and place in the world. Certainly no bigot.

As I've said before, don't feel bad, even US Pres Biden repeated the dead babies lie. Think about that for a moment. Blood libel if I've ever heard any, as scurrilous as any aimed at Jews.

I have felt an uncomfortable prickling sensation at the back of my neck, warning me that any who don’t bow down before the so-called ‘christian’ nationalist agenda ravaging the US, even many reading this post, will not have an easy time in the coming decades should Rump gain another term. We’re not only being othered, but also demonized. I noted a Hindu prayer offered at the recent RNC was decried as “blasphemous”.

The world needs unity among its diverse more than ever now, to show Rump, Erdogan, Putin, Netanyahu and others like them their rules can and must end.

Anyone still think the conflict in Palestine is mostly over religion? And not covering Netanyahu’s ass politically, and pushing Palestinians into Egypt’s Sinai Desert with land grabs related to doing dark deals with shady Saudi princes for Palestinian oil, gas and real estate resources? Yes? Then I have a charming Hamas duty roster Islamic calendar to sell you.

https://carnegieendowment.org/sada/2023/10/south-into-the-sinai-will-israel-force-palestinians-out-of-gaza?lang=en

Diversionary tactics (Jews vs the Muslims, Blacks vs the Whites, Poors vs the Wealthy) work great (Covid deaths, Rump elected, Brexit done) To quote the words of the late great Freddie Mercury, “Baby, you’ve been had.”

Less-than subtle press efforts to excuse and erase the Israeli murder, etc, of Palestinians include the language many western media outlets use, especially in their headlines.

More censorship
These represent just a small sample of the numerous NYT headlines I’ve corrected over the last eight months. And it’s not just the New York Times. Many mainstream Western news outlets have failed Palestinians in their coverage of the war. I’ve ‘fixed’ headlines from Reuters, the BBC, ABC News, and others. But what makes the NYT so appalling is the paper’s status in the U.S. as one of the oldest and most respected publications – the so-called paper of record.

Meanwhile, I have to remind here that TheOnlyDemocracyInTheMiddleEast™ forcibly sterelised Ethiopian women (of the Jewish religion). Why? Your guess is as good as mine, and my guess is they want to promote an Israeli racial homogeneity and "purity". Just like Greek nationalists. Also, make no mistake: being Greek and NOT right-wing, I readily admit my country had the Pomakians in a semi-apartheid situation. Even today, many of the so-called civil services (such as social services) in their regions are staffed by the military and not non-uniformed civil servants, and the right wing keeps treating the Pomakians as "natural born Turkish agents". So, I can identify the patterns and signs. Do I doubt the military junta (which, despite its blatant antisemitic rhetoric, was cooperating on numerous levels with Israel) would seek to sterilise Pomakian women if it had the means or the excuse to do so? Absolutely not. They were, like their successor parties (Nea Dimokratia, EPEN, Golden Dawn, National Front, Spartans, Niki etc), VERY big on the mix of racial and religious homogeneity. Just like Israel.

4. They look at what Israel is doing and see it as a template for what they want to do to the "Other"; we're talking about people who want a nation that is racially and religiously homogeneous and, therefore, "pure". Basically, we're talking about Nazis in disguise.

Lies, lies & more lies.

And here it is, the lie Netanyahu had Biden repeat.

Netanyahu repeated disproven claims that Hamas “burned babies alive” during its assault on southern Israel on 7 October. He also recounted a story of Hamas fighters murdering two babies who were hidden in the attic of a family home.

These claims were among many testimonies of the Hamas attack by Israeli personnel that the Haaretz newspaper found to be false.
Benjamin Netanyahu's false claims in his address to Congress

One of the most inflammatory examples was the false rumor that 40 decapitated babies were found in the Kfar Aza kibbutz after the Hamas attack. Hamas, of course, committed atrocities on 7 October, including murdering 38 Israeli children. But the fake news about 40 beheaded babies – which the Israeli government press office has confirmed to Le Monde was not true – was potent and emotive and spread absolutely everywhere, including to and from the White House.

Joe Biden repeated these unverified reports, even when his staff urged him not to. He even lied about seeing pictures of these babies. It was Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction all over again. It was the Kuwait incubator hoax all over again. It laid the basis for genocide; for politicians to look at pictures of Palestinian children, decapitated by US-manufactured missiles, and just shrug.

Bibi Netanyahu originally wanted to return via the UK to Israel, but he will probably now take anouther route, because:

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office said Friday that the U.K. will not intervene in the International Criminal Court’s request for an arrest warrant against Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The announcement is reversal of plans announced by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who was ousted earlier this month when Starmer’s Labour Party swept Conservatives from office in a landslide.

“This was a proposal by the previous government which was not submitted before the election, and which I can confirm the government will not be pursuing in line with our long-standing position that this is a matter for the court to decide,” a Starmer spokesperson said.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Fucking war criminals.

....Israel cannot become a place that accepts and encourages brutal torture. Israel's strategic strength stems in part from its moral high ground and democratic norms. If we replace these with the unchecked primal urge for revenge, we would be no better than our enemies. At the most fundamental level, this would indicate a victory for Hamas.

Palestinians are certainly gaining the global sympathy vote, but if that will result in any alleviation of their suffering or reduce the deaths and destruction remains to be seen.

Testimonies obtained by Haaretz indicate that the unit's members were involved in several violent incidents in recent months. For example, a soldier who served Sde Teiman said that the unit used violence towards the detainees, saying that "on one occasion they told everyone to lie down on the floor and immediately threw a stun grenade in the middle of the cell, then kicked them violently."

The testimony also said the soldiers would occasionally pull detainees aside and violently abuse them, saying "they beat them with clubs, I saw broken teeth and ribs."

The news of how badly prisoners have been treated in Iraq, Afghanistan and more recently in Gaza makes me very upset because I remember learning as a kid how the USA in the past was known to treat prisoners well which was to our benefit because it made surrender a very attractive option for our enemies. A lot of German mercenaries during our Revolutionary war were happy to stop fighting and just get jobs here for example. Losing this "moral high ground" is very detrimental to the USA, our allies and Israel has of course also been really messing this up.

Netanyahu can't get out of office fast enough. No matter where someone stands politically, it's clear he's really screwing this up in every way. He's failed strategically and diplomatically.

More war crimes. IDF blew up Rafah's water reserves last week.

The Armored Corps soldiers blew up the reservoir with the approval of their commanders but without the OK of senior officers. One soldier posted footage on social media describing it as 'in honor of Shabbat.' The army will decide whether to open a formal investigation.
https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-07-29/ty-article/.premium/idf-commanders-gave-order-to-blow-up-rafah-reservoir-army-suspects-breach-of-intl-law/00000190-fd90-d5ef-a5fe-ff9ec3ea0000

The water reserve was located in Rafah's Tel Sultan neighborhood, close to areas the Israeli army has designated humanitarian areas.

International humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention prohibit the destruction of facilities essential to the survival of civilians in times of war, such as drinking water installations.

Deliberately denying civilians access to "objects indispensable to their survival" - such as a clean water supply - is considered a war crime.

As Jessica Buxbaum wrote in January, one distinct feature of Israel's current war on Gaza is in how Israeli soldiers have frequently uploaded videos showing them carrying out possible war crimes, such as the demolition, vandalizing and looting of civilian homes.

Conditions in Gaza are worsening, after medical groups announced that polio has been detected in parts of Gaza, resulting from the collapsed healthcare system and lack of clean water and hygiene facilities.

Israel's war on Gaza has ravaged the enclave, killing over 39,000 people and wounding over 90,000 others since October, although a recent Lancet report stated that the overall death toll may be as high as 186,000 people.

Israel has killed the political leader of Hamas and chief negotiator for the hostages, Ismail Hanija, in his home in Teheran, Iran, by firing up a cruise missile.

At the same time a high ranking leader of Hezbollah, Fuad Schukr, was killed by Israel in Beirut, Lebanon, again with a rocket.

Iran is now threatening Israel with vengeance. The whole war is on the verge of escalating once again... it is also a clear demonstration about the intel capabilities of Israel's Mossad that they knew where both targets were located at, and that the missiles were not intercepted by air raid defences.

More war crimes, and a very informative YouTube. No wonder the Israeli govt. wanted Al Jazeera gone!

This YT describes how the Holocaust has been cynically repurposed to promote Zionist aims. Instead of serving as a reminder and warning of the evil mankind is capable of, Zionists are using it to dehumanize its targets, the Palestinians, and justify their mass murder.

Senior adviser to Benjamin Netanyahu, Mark Regev, attempts to justify the abuse and humiliation of Palestinian men captured by the IDF, who strip them to their underwear, as a "measure to suicide vests & due to the very hot temperatures in the middle east." This YT also raises the question of IDF instructions to Gazans to move around “like human pinballs, ricocheting between ever smaller slivers of the South.” Regev lies his ass off and accuses Hamas of causing all the non-combatant deaths.

(I noted some of Regev's claims have long been debunked by Israeli press; presumably he arrogantly thinks those who oppose this genocide are incapable of accessing and translating this huge amount of documentation disproving Israeli govt. lies.)

The base – which has been compared to Guantanamo – has been used as a facility to house Palestinians rounded up in Gaza and held without charge. Many are now pointing to the detention of the [IDF] soldiers as evidence of the continued abuse of prisoners. Reports from human rights organizations indicate that at least 13 prisoners have died from abuse in Israeli prisons — and Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that number is as high as 27 — since October 7, when Israel’s current war on Gaza began.
Are Palestinians being tortured in Israeli prisons?
