I don't really understand why someone who finds such things horrendously offensive would be watching Good Omens in the first place.
Probably for the same reason as penis went to the sports ball game he *knew* he would be offended at then made a show of leaving. To let everyone know they were offended. They never planned on watching more of it.

If all you heard about the show is it is about angels trying to save the world from the Apocalypse, I could see them watching. Crowley is a fallen angel, but still an angel.

(Not the Metatron, who shows up later and is male.)
I don't remember seeing Decepticons in this show.

And they call everyone else snowflakes.
Exactly! In is not even a direct comparison either as other people are complaining about being hurt or something whereas they are going out of their way to see something they are not interested in.

You do not even need to know the book. How many people *seriously* thought Dogma was going to be respectful to catholicism?

Mrs. B & I finished Good Omens last night, and I may watch it again on my own. It was delightful. I'm tempted to go buy the book now, which I've never read.

The good news is how Neil Gaiman has single-handedly forced diversity on everyone.

So, that's handled.

I absolutely love Neil Gaiman and have read pretty much everything he's written (though "Norse Mythology" was a bit dry, given that's exactly what it's about).

When I heard they were making "Good Omens" into a series, I almost squeed with anticipation. I'm still only done with episode three, as I have promised not to binge watch it without Mrs Blue. Sorely tempted as I may be, I am savoring every minute and will certainly watch it all again.

I watched all of it the first day before my spouse even got home. Correction, ALMOST all of it ... I had paused the final few minutes to do something else. No matter, I watched those few minutes then we both started over again from episode 1.

It was not like I had any inside knowledge of what would happen. We both had practically memorized the book when it came out.

Well I do adore Neil Gaiman and his beautifully warped mind.

And I'm not sure - would Neil Gaiman reading the entire Cheesecake Factory menu qualify as a kind of audio pornography:

I don't know why, as I love all involved, but I can't seem to get into it. I'll give it another shot over the summer.

Audio food porn, to be sure.

Sorry to double post (not that it will stop me from doing it again) but I rather liked the comment I read somewhere that, somehow, Neil Gaiman, Amazon and the spirit of Terry Pratchett have managed to sneak into mainstream entertainment something that is, at one level, the story of two men who clearly love each other deeply, and no one has raised an eyebrow (at least not about that aspect of the plot).

Not being a gay man I can't really comment, I guess, but it seemed to me quite an apposite observation.

I would love to see what their reaction to 'Dogma' was. Probably they were fine with some things since it made fun of catholics but too many things would have hit close to home for them. Like, surprise, a female god again so roping in Rickman to deadpan the metatron. Oh, and Chris Rock saying jesus was black probably would not play well with them.

I remember some group protested Dogma, I think it was Catholics though. Don't remember what the fundies thought.
In that case and in this, though, they got all het up without even seeing any of the "offending" material.
Some people aren't happy unless they have something to crusade against.
