DeSantis has signed some really stupid legislation that has profoundly affected business in the state. Why Republicans in this state who are allegedly "pro-business" can't see that is a mystery to me.Florida is safe again from the grasp of the global elite! DeSantis signed a bill this week banning and criminalizing the manufacture and sale of lab-grown meat.
"Florida is fighting back against the global elite's plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals," DeSantis said. "We will save our beef."

What happens if they don't pay? Do they get evicted? Also, $50 per day would be approximately $1500 a month for a 6 x 9 cell that you probably share with someone else? Seriously? Fuck that.New in Florida: pay to stay! So paying for your stay in prison... GOP, fuck yeah!
It's called "pay-to-stay", charging inmates for their prison stay, like a hotel they were forced to book. Florida law says that cost, $50 a day, is based on the person's sentence. Even if they are released early, paying for a cell they no longer occupy, and regardless of their ability to pay.
Not only can the state bill an inmate the $50 a day even after they are released, Florida can also impose a new bill on the next occupant of that bed, potentially allowing the state to double, triple, or quadruple charge for the same bed.

Pay to stay: Florida inmates charged for prison cells long after incarceration
It's a common saying: You do the crime, you do the time. But when people are released from prison, freedom is fragmented. It marks the start of new hardships, impacting families and communities.www.abcactionnews.com
Florida is not alone in charging prisoners for their prison stay. There are people challenging this though (see link). What we do to people that come out of prison in the US is sick. A very large percentage end up back in prison because of all the huge fees they have to pay to courts, for programs after release and to their probation. It should not be allowed.New in Florida: pay to stay! So paying for your stay in prison... GOP, fuck yeah!

Nothing cruller than being thrown in the hole again. His eyes glazed over, as he thought about Eclaire always saying he was gonna fritter his life away. At the time, he figured she was just old fashioned, and maybe a bit jelly, but he had to face it - the tart had been right. At least he wouldn't have to deal with his cellmate Beignet telling him to turnover tonight.

Hashem Younis Hashem Hnaihen allegedly smashed windows at local businesses in Florida, leaving behind threatening letters about their perceived support of Israel, and broke into a solar power generation facility in Wedgefield, Florida back in June. Hnaihen allegedly spent hours smashing solar panels, cutting various wires, and destroying critical electronic equipment, according to a press release from the DOJ issued Thursday.
Hnaihen was wearing a mask when he allegedly smashed the glass front doors of businesses that he thought supported Israel in June, the DOJ says, leaving behind “warning letters” that included lines like a desire to, “destroy or explode everything here in whole America. Especially the companies and factories that support the racist state of Israel.”
A bizarre police chase played out on a six-lane Florida highway when a felony suspect chose an electronic shopping cart from Walmart as his getaway car, investigators say.
