Do you have a fear of space?

Do you have a fear of aliens?

I don't really have a fear of space but I do realize how dangerous and desolate it can be.

I find some alien depictions scary (like some iterations of greys.)

The Universe is a reality.
We live on a tiny dot somewhere in that more than gigantic space and there is nothing we can do about it. It's part of the package and something we can't control, not even in the slightest. So having fear is useless. I accept the facts.
It is also a fact that distances between planets, stars and galaxies are enormous. So the chance that other lifeforms will ever reach us or find us (or we find them) is practically zero, if they even exists.

I have more fear for the Russia - Ukrainian war escalating into WWIII to be honest.

Not really, given the fastest anything with mass can travel is light (c), and anything faster than even a small fraction of that would consume so much energy to not be worth the effort.

The nearest black hole (that we know of (and which an incredibly advanced civilization could use as an energy source)) is 5,200 light years away. The nearest stellar nebula which could perhaps contain remnents of a black hole explosion (yielding transuranics and useful metals beyond iron) is 700 light years away. A neutron star could be anywhere from 100 to 1000 light years away (which could also be used as an energy source), and space is getting further and further apart, making interstellar travel harder. If a wormhole existed, I'd be very surprised if anything beyond atomic masses could travel through.

But I still believe in Kubrick's monolith. We just need to get to the moon and start looking, looking around.

Yeah, I do fear space. This is why I do feel pretty safe on space ship Earth, and don't want to leave it. That settles down the fear for space pretty well.

Aliens? It is very unlikely that I'll ever meet an intelligent alien species in my lifetime, so no. No need to think about that one either.

But hey, if you're feeling pretty bored, yes, these might be interesting topics to get desperate about.

I dislike the idea of being in space because things -do- go wrong and it's really freaking difficult to design systems that have a 'graceful failure condition' in an environment that, by default, is lethal.

Aliens don't scare me. I think that if we were to encounter 'intelligent alien life' it would be so far outside of our expectations that we probably wouldn't even recognize it as anything but a complex natural non-sentient phenomena.

No, no, no, & no.

Why would I fear space? I live in space. Space is all around me. Yay space. Did you mean outer space? No, I do not fear outer space.

Aliens? I do not fear the version that means space aliens, do not fear the version that means illegal aliens, nor do I fear legal aliens.

I do occasionally worry about vacuum decay, but if it ever happens, and if it is close enough to exceed the speed of inflation, we'll never know, and there is nothing we can do about it.
