Door Script Dilemma

I've recently been building some Tatooine type buildings with curved walls. The initial design was "sliding doors". I hadn't paused to think "flat doors/curved walls" and realize the folly of my design.

A regular open/close script just doesn't work with the genre. So, my new idea is to put an alpha'd out prim around the door and turn the door invisible while anyone is colliding with it or for a short period of time after they do so, so it will somewhat mimic the way a sliding door would just be gone.

Problem is, for all these years I've always screamed "I'll never learn LSL" - and I didn't. I've been fumbling at this for days now and am wondering if one of y'all would be willing to help with a script for a small fee (I'm assuming it would be pretty fast/easy to write a script for this).

You could use phase doors or blinds.
Scripts for them are all over the marketplace.

The pivot has to extend into the house, and the curved door needs to have the door shaped to the other axis. I know it's hard to explain ... think like the door is 90 degrees with the door pointing out, and the door panel has to be resized so instead of being 3x5x.1, it is .1x5x3.

It can't have a pivot. It was either slide to the side or make it vanish. Or are you saying that I throw a standard door script in there with an additional line that resizes the door for a moment, then after a few seconds makes it big again?

Iris door is an option. There’s some example scripts posted in the other forum. Not in world right now but I think I have one. Will check later, no promises.

What if the doors "collapsed" into the sides? so they sort of look like they are sliding open, but actually they are compressing to be slivers?

Alternately, the door script I use just toggles and object between "position A" and "Position b". If the door was thinner, it could toggle between closed (position A) and inside the wall hidden (Position B).

The collapsing to the sides thing might work if I changed them to double doors, though it might look odd since the width is single door. Hidden inside the wall doesn't work unless I can somehow change the width to almost nothing while sliding it.

I did something like this for a build for a tv cabinet once. The door was supposed to scroll up and look like it was rolling up into the cabinet. The script changed the size of the door by making it smaller in the direction of movement, moved the prim up so its end was at the top of the cabinet, and then the texture was scaled and shifted to make it look like only the end of the door was showing. This was put in a loop to make it continually scale and appear dynamic.

Edit to add: I am happy to share the script (no fee) I have if I can find it. I may not be able to get in world until the weekend though. I do not know your SL contact info. My SL name is the same as my VVO user name.

One option is to use a curved prim, phantom it and rotate the texture to look like a sliding door when touched, then reverse the process after a time to simulate closing and block the portal.

Oh, what about a curved door that matches the curve of the building?

I like this idea a lot if it can work on the door though I think it would mean I'd have to remake all my baked door textures. It also seems like it might be a bit much to code for me without a lot of research because I'm an LSL neophyte. That said, if its simple for an actual scripter, I'd be happy to pay someone. May take this idea to a help wanted thread (if we have one).

This would require a lot of remeshing and still wouldn't work in cases where the wall cuts back next to the door. Next time, I consider doors first.

Nevermind, I just looked at it and it's a 2008 piece of shit.

Suggestion of an aperture or iris door stands though.

Thanks. I think I can use some of this to figure it out.
