I've had absolutely no luck catching helltides this season. My minion/necro is level 34 already and I haven't even seen the tail end of one.

It's nice that minions are actually viable now though, I much prefer being a pet/caster class. But all my prior necros (usually shadow or blood spec) always sacrificed their minions more beneficial bonuses.

How??? I have done probably 20 of them and I am level 40 as a necro. I am level 9 in rep with the iron whatevers. Helltides are easy to find. Just look what area of the map is orangeish and covered in blood.

*sigh* ... I opted to re-do the campaign figuring it would be faster/levelling experience, and:

"The Helltide Reborn event only appears on your map after you've completed Diablo 4's campaign or have skipped it."

So, nertz, it was my own fault. At least, levelling has gone pretty quickly. I should wrap the campaign up soon. :)

Oh, hell, that's right. I've forgotten to play D4 at all!

I think I left my last 3 seasonal characters hanging without even going back to Eternal to clean out their stash.

Now. Where did I hide that "give-a-damn" :)

I know it's here somewhere.

Necros get the options to sacrifice minions for additional essence. I sacrificed my skels, kept my golem and the game did feel a bit easier to me.

I'm a really bad MMO player and even *I* figured out where and when they were! 💩
Yeah yeah, I forgot (or didn't know) that Helltides were locked behind finishing the campaign, and I foolishly decided not to skip it this season. =)

My Summoner Necro is probably the most over-powered build I've ever run... Even more than my Ball Lightning Sorcerer which dominated in Season 2. I haven't even really put thought into it, just focused on more/better minions to the exclusion of most everything else.

Skills: Golem, Raise Skele, Blight, Corpse Explosion, Decompose & Army of the Dead

I lucked out with a few unique rings early:
  • Mendeln (every 6th minion attack *explodes* for significant damage)
  • Sacrilegious Soul (auto-casts Corpse Explosion/Tendrils & Raise Skeleton every 3 sec on nearby corpses)
Some nice offensive aspects:
  • Occult Dominion Your maximum number of Skeletal Warriors and Skeletal Mages is increased by 3. (on amulet)
  • Reanimation Your Minions gain increased damage while alive, up to 37%[x] after 10 seconds.
  • Frenzied Dead Each time one of your Summoning Minions damages an enemy, they gain 12%[+] Attack Speed for 3 seconds, up to 35%[+].
  • Aphotic Skeletal Priests empower your Skeletal Warriors' attacks to deal Shadow damage and have a 4.0% chance to Stun enemies for 1.5 seconds.
  • Coldbringer's Every 8 seconds, your Skeletal Mages cast a blizzard that deals 2558 Cold damage and continuously Chills enemies for 8% over 6 seconds.
I have so I went with Skirmisher Skeletal Warriors (allows 1 extra summon), Cold Mages (attacks regenerate my essense for more blight casts), Blood Golem (absorbs 30% of the damage done to me).

Got a few max item level drops from world bosses in Tier IV when I hit level 60, they help a lot.

Tempering, I just went with more bonuses for the minions.

I'm running Tier IV nightmare dungeons with foes 15 levels over me, and not breaking a sweat. =)

I had read that they were buffing Necros, but that sounds positively fun.

I'm stuck trying to finish my Rogue play in LE, got bored and stopped, need some oomph to get to 80. :)

Finally got a few minutes to log in for the new season. I almost started a rogue , but I'm afraid I'm so hooked into Last Epoch's version of rogue it would only disappoint me. So, instead I started another Necro. My 5th, I think.

Feels like I'm on Easy, but maybe I am. I did have one wake-up call about level 10. This GIGANTIC mob, bigger than anything I'd seen yet, jumped out of the ground all of a sudden and startled me. He wasn't a boss, though, just big and ugly. Dead in a minute thanks to Decrepify and Blood Lance and my gang of skeletons.

I love the new Helltides. I could live there :)

I'm going to need to see more than this to make me want to return in full force. New stuff, more trinkets, more challenges. I'm barely hanging on with LP as it is.

I'm probably missing something. I log in, run a nightmare dungeon (my equipped paragon glyphs are all level 15, I'm just levelling up some alternates that are a little more defensive), then I do the whisper events and summoned boss in a helltide a few times. I suck at dodging uber-lilith's AoE attacks and probably won't bother with the one-shot-death-fest that those end up being for me. I haven't tried 'The Pit' yet, I'm saving that for level 100 (5 levels to go).

My goal at the moment is to finish grinding rep with the Iron Wolves (one unlock to go) and hopefully get a higher level unique Ring of Mendeln to drop (my current one is ilevel 650ish, everything else I have is ancestral 925 most with one or two stars.

Once that's done, I may start an alt. We'll see. I'm really struggling to find enough gem fragments to upgrade the gems in my gear.

[edit to add:] oh yeah... I wish there was a way to view a character offline. D4Armory is absolutely garbage right now, the formatting is all broken, and it won't show season 4 characters. Bleah.

Since my husband's bad fall and hospitalization, I slowed way down on ANY gaming until this week. He's home again, safely ensconced in bed and I can grab the random hour here or there when he doesn't require assistance.

Last I logged into D4, my Blight Necro was low 30s in Season 4. A couple of days of intermittent play and I finally reached 50 and the Paragon board. The last patch does feel a lot better for me, personally. I managed to clear the wt3 Capstone only using 2 heal pots at level 45, so I figured I was good to go. Easy peasy. It is to laugh!

The first helltide I stepped into on WT3 corrected my false assumption - in the first battle on T3, I got my undead butt handed to me in 3 seconds. Rezzed and tried again, this time attacked by 6 elites at the same time. "Know when to fall back". It's impossible to chug that many heals that fast.

Back to WT2 until I was stronger - turns out I can do wt3 at about level 48.

I don't really notice the increase in difficulty as much, now. Still just farming Helltides but I'm starting to have a blast again. Badass armor look, slaying the baddies by the bushel and laughing as I go! Next up: advanced Tempering.

As for the Blight necro build (I sacrificed my skeletons for the essence, now running Blood Golem for the heals), It works pretty well (especially with a few trick armor tempers that fire Corpse Explosion all over) but I keep reading that it's not the greatest End Game build. That's fine. If/when I get to the actual endgame, I'll just respec back to something conventional like Bone Necro. This is my 4th necromancer. You'd think I would get tired of it some day :)
