Puerto Vallarta and other cities in Mexico are under siege after the Mexican military killed the leader of the largest cartel in Mexico. All hell has literally broken loose.

Almost made this incident it's own thread. Posted to another thread, but yeah, my parents are in the middle of it. Puerto Vallarta WAS one of their favorite spots, but I imagine they won't be back. They are fine right now, just stuck in their hotel. They are worried their hotel will run out of food sooner or later.

They said last night was really quiet, which is good... Everyone is still encouraged to stay put in the hotel and the street entrance is barricaded. I think at this point they are as bored as they are worried.

I imagine once the lockdown is lifted, it will still be weird and awkward till they can go home. I also feel bad for the hotel workers who are basically stuck at work...

Agreed. I think my parents are kind of downplaying the severity of the situation for their own sanity as well. They are just trying to act like everything's fine but are hopefully being more careful than normal. It's annoying my sister who wishes they'd just try to get home NOW.

That was kind of my thought. If some cartel comes for them it won't matter if they are on the beach or in their rooms.
