Exactly. In their 'women are extensions of men' mind-set, a 'cat lady' is dog-whistle for "Selfish Drain on Society". She's robbing a man somewhere of the life to which he's entitled. She's like a car without an owner, not going anywhere, not helping anyone, just useless garbage. Or a feral pet without a master going through the garbage, making noise, taking stuff that doesn't belong to them.

To them a 'cat lady' is a willfully useless "problem" that needs to be marginalized, cancelled, condemned, contained or, if they get into office in 2024... "corrected".

That reminds me of a novel I think is floating around here named Atlanta Nights. Vanity publishing is likely less of a thing now that books have taken a back seat to the internet. However there was a publisher promising high exposure for a fee for supposedly quality work. Some science fiction authors submitted their book to them, making the worst crap possible. They accepted the book. One of the chapters was entirely computer generated which is saying something since this was in 2004.

The publisher withdrew their acceptance shortly after it became obvious they were being made fun of. The authors republished it for cheap. I see it is still available on Amazon. The author is Travis Tea.
