Canva, the popular online design software company, purchased Adobe competitor Affinity about a year or so ago. Customers of Affinity have been wondering what Canva would do with Affinity, which had several purchase once programs that were the equivalent of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. About a month ago, Affinity made their current software unavailable for purchase (and gave away the iPad versions for free), which made Affinity customers concerned that Affinity would move to a subscription model like Canva.
Instead, it went the opposite direction. The newest version of Affinity is now combined into a single desktop program that seamlessly combine the features of all three programs in one - photo editing, vector and layout. It is completely free. The only premium features are AI features, which are included if you are a Canva subscriber. They are going for Adobe's market share as Adobe continues to release bloated single applications you can't even own and make misstep after misstep
I love the new version - I have been using it since release, and it is fantastic. Definitely worth checking out.
