Looking at the set used in the debate and the way the moderator was dressed, did anyone get "The Weakest Link" vibes?

Conservative Central Office seem to be trying to keep Johnson out of debates after his encounter with Corbyn

Why cancel? Have a "debate" open to all the party leaders, and if Johnson doesn't want to come, that would actually be a good thing.

Get Corbyn and Swinton, and Blackford and someone from Northern Ireland on a "debate" discussing Brexit, second referendum plans, the problems with the Johnson plan, and what each party wants. Johnson would just make the discussion very unpleasant and boring.

(the authors) asked how they would feature Mr Johnson in their work, Ms Moyles suggested he would be “the terrible first marriage you had to escape”. Mr Follett saw Mr Johnson in one of his historical epics as “the stupid bishop”. Kate Mosse envisioned him as “the third son who did nothing but eat, was entirely incapable of doing anything on his own and, when called to save the castle, he runs away”.

Brexit party MEP interrupts Green party MEP and gets schooled (or perhaps universitied would be a better word when the teacher is a professor)
"Oh so you're an expert with a fancy title now, are you? Try to go to classes at Eton with a hangover. That's what real experience is all about!"

Crikey -- now it looks as if his interview with Andrew Neil is in doubt:

He's already refused to do a second head-to-head with Corbyn and if he doesn't give Neil an interview, that will make him the one party leader so to do.

(For the benefit of US readers -- while Andrew Neil is himself a right-wing Conservative he is commendably tough with all the politicians he interviews, so I can see why Johnson is nervous).

Conservative Central Office has the right idea then. There is a well known country song about Boris Johnson...

"You say it best when you say nothing at all."
