Newly elected MEP Nigel Farage and his party of Brexiteers felt like they should make their presence well known during the first sitting of the European parliament by being exactly the dickheads that they are:

Wow... now this is just a mind boggling blow to customer's well being. This reminds me, if I should ever in this life visit the USA again, to not eat any pork meat there!

The whole reason why the Jews and Muslims don't eat pork are the trichinae; mankind back then knew that there's something special about pork, because too many got ill after eating it which didn't happen when eating cattle instead, but science back then was unable to deliver the reason why. So eating was just forbidden entirely in order to secure the health of the own people, which made perfect sense back then.

The process of testing pork for trichinae was introduced in Germany back then in 1866, after an epidemic three years before, and it worked wonders.

So what Craig Thorn is telling us is that he is shitting on the well being of his customers, and mankind should go back into ancient times where nobody cared about it. Screw him.
Of course the reason why the US doesn't have a problem with pork despite not requiring testing is that our livestock is pumped full of antibiotics. And then bleached before it gets to market.

a couple of todays highlights, first Tory Candidate #2 admitting that a no deal brexit will be bad (but he thinks probably not quite as bad as the banking crisis) but that he's determined to do it anyway.

and secondly, Canada has just proven why the cunning Tory plan to drop all of our tariffs to 0 in the event of no deal will mean that we will never get a trade deal with anyone, anywhere. Because unilaterally removing all tariffs is better than a trade deal as the other country doesn't need to offer any concessions at all.

Here is Farage's investment plan:

And the reason why they did turn their backs while the EU anthem was played according to him he felt taunted by the EP president that they should "stand for the anthem of another country." Which, of course in Farage's world view, is the EU.

On the other hand they are not above taking the daily allowances by the EU.

Not all the new British MEPs represent Farage's Bexit Party, of course. Here is one of the Green Party's new MEPs, Magid Magid, part of the group representing Sheffield and South Yorkshire:

Umm, I highly doubt race had anything to do with it. When was the last time you walked into a government office and your representative was wearing a slogan shirt, cargo shorts, and a backwards baseball cap? Even if it is business casual that means sneakers and nice jeans are ok .... however I doubt the European Parliament is the place for even business casual.

The European Parliament is saying it must have been an officious bystander:

He said the exchange said a lot about what people thought politicians were supposed to look like, and he did not leave the building.

A spokeswoman for the European Parliament said: "We investigated the matter immediately after our attention was brought to it and can safely say that no member of Parliament staff was involved."
The report goes on to explain that Majid, a very popular and charismatic young politician over here,
came to Sheffield aged five from an Ethiopian refugee camp "to find a better life".

He was a contestant on Channel 4's reality show Hunted, and was elected Broomhill and Sharrow Vale Green councillor in 2016 and became the city's youngest Lord Mayor in 2018.

He went on to cause controversy when, in July 2018, he "banned" visiting US President Donald Trump from Sheffield.

Oh clothes for sure mean nothing. For example take this German guy, the former foreign minister Joschka Fischer with George W. Bush:

He started his political career like this in 1983, when the Green party was first time part of the German Federal Parliament:

And the full beards, long hair and wool pullovers were standard attire for the Greens back then; they really stood out that way.

BTW Fischer's sneakers are now an exhibit in a museum.

Id just like to address those figures for a moment. £200bn which they are going to find by... scrapping and redirecting the foreign aid budget.
In 2016 the foreign aid budget was....£7.7bn, so just £192.3bn short.

Our total budget in 2016 was just over £700bn.

£200bn is our combined spending on the NHS (144.3bn), Defence (37bn), Environment (11.3bn) AND overseas aid (7.7bn).

Oh yes, and I notice the "thats 2.5x what was spent rebuilding europe after WWII" because they can't ever get past the war and they don't know what 70years of inflation does to money.

The report goes on to explain that Majid, a very popular and charismatic young politician over here,
And it looks as if Mr Majid is not the only MEP to have had his bona fides questioned:

The European Network Against Racism (ENAR), a network of more than 160 grassroots anti-racism organisations, said the incident reflected a wider pattern in European politics: “To be successful in EU politics, you must be white.”

Last week Younus Omarjee, an MEP from the French island of Réunion, documented another alleged racist encounter. Travelling by train to Brussels, Omarjee said, he and his Congolese colleague were the only people in the carriage to be subjected to a targeted police control.

Sarah Chander, a senior advocacy officer at the ENAR, said: “Unfortunately, for people of colour in Brussels this week the issue has not been how to secure the top jobs. Instead, a number of ethnic minority MEPs have simply had to justify their right to be here.

“These incidents may seem minor to some. A snide comment here, a ‘random’ security check there. Many of the responses on Twitter were eager to deny that racism may have been a factor motivating these encounters. But these incidents are major and they are significant. They reflect a wider pattern in European politics.”
The report goes on to note that
The ENAR said only 5% of MEPs were people of colour and it predicted the situation was likely to worsen after Brexit.
The equivalent figure for the UK is about 7.8%, or 52 MPs (if it accurately reflected UK's population it would be more like 90).

Yeah, Joschka Fischer wore sneakers.

And it also caused a stir, proving Kara's point.

If his shoes hadn't been controversial, then they wouldn't be in a museum now.

Meanwhile, varied audience responses to a panelist defending Nigel Farage's Brexit Party all turning their backs when the European Anthem was played in the European Parliament and a very apt comment. I love the contrast between the young woman's reaction and that of the older man ("Hey Google, what is a 'gammon'?") in front of her.
