That said, in the past, people posting links to blog posts have attracted some snark about driving site traffic to another place without engaging with the locals here. YMMV

Yes, you really should be a contributing member of the community over time, otherwise it looks like a traffic generating "drive by" that takes but does not give back. Having a blogging subforum makes some sense, please suggest it so I can give positive feedback. Remember, however, it's up to Cris to decide to do so.

If there's a 'pimp your blog' forum and such activity drives anyone nuts they can ignore that subforum. Or whine about it and look like a twat. Hey, it's the internet.
