Truth be told, there were other things I intended to write about this month, but RL happened, so it was another idle month. Some discussions, however, on how RL sex workers are approached by their (potential) clients got me thinking about my experiences as an escort in SL. I also happen to still have friends in the in-world sex industry, so I started discussing the matter with them, exchanging notes and stuff. The result is this post, where I try to give some pointers as to how one can approach an SL escort for the first time without - let's put it bluntly - being a dick.

Mostly agree with the article but want to comment on a few key differences between SL sex work and RL sex work: Most SL sex work is for TRIVIAL amounts of money. If you are paying someone 5 dollars worth of Lindens, don't act like you're making some huge personal sacrifice that warrants hours of their time... Real Life escorts hate it when dudes try too hard to negotiate or want a Ferrari for the price of a pinto but you just sound that much more pathetic arguing over what you get for 5 dollars...

I absolutely agree, and that's why I wrote the "Scrooge Never Got Laid" section (the working heading title was "Don't Haggle"). It's always been absolutely disgusting and pathetic when people tried to convince me to give them an hour of sex for L$150, and of course it's even more insulting for RL escorts.

Considering many of the newbies I've run into in SL, any escort needs to make sure they always keep line of sight for escapes, a cattle prod (which some may pay extra to be used on them), and 500mg of Thorazine.

TL;DR. Your problem is that the people who should read this will not, because it's way too long and they don't care. And the people who know how to behave don't need it.

Shorten your wall of text to 1/3 of it's size maybe or less, or make a short bullet list on a note card and give that to people who need it. That might work better than that article of yours.

My rule of thumb in RL and SL is to treat everyone I meet with respect and to continue to do so until they prove themselves to be dangerous or unworthy of that respect. In that case, boot them out of your life, your home and your sim.
