CLAIM: Photos show children being taught Satanism in libraries in the U.S. during an event called SatanCon.
AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The images were generated with an artificial intelligence tool and posted online. The Facebook user who created the images confirmed to The Associated Press that they produced the images and posted them on the social media platform. The Satanic Temple, creator of SatanCon, told the AP that they do not hold satanic events for children.
THE FACTS: Images supposedly showing a satanic event for children at libraries in the U.S. have spread widely across social media platforms in both English and Spanish in recent days. Some users claimed that the events were part of SatanCon, an annual event organized by The Satanic Temple that took place in Boston last month.

And we've got the first copyright issue on text to image AIs. Some text to image AIs are being trained on datasets provided by LAION e.V., which is a German non profit organization.

These datasets do provide deep links to images scattered all across the net, as well as descriptions on what's being depicted on it in English. The AI companies/projects then download the images, pair it with the descriptions and train their networks on that.

Now a German stock photographer named Robert Kneschke is suing LAION e.V., and wants them to remove his images of the training data of those models.

LAION itself states they are just providing the deep link lists with a notice that everybody should check it for issues before using it commercially. Kneschke on the other hand thinks that the non profit organizations are just there in reality to divert legal trouble from the AI companies itself, telling that e.g. the founder of LAION is also the head of machine learning operations at Stability AI.

Good to know I am not the only one who uses AI to make Godzillas.

Though I generally don't give mine boobs....

Hmmm, but now I wonder...
As an update, AI seems really bad at producing Godzillas with dicks. Especially "Godzilla sized dicks.". Even using a pornographic based training model.

Played around with some of the fotor image generation stuff, shame I didn't realize there was only 4 'free' generations before it becomes a pay-for thing, or I would have tried for something more creative...

Even so, they turned out pretty neat (4 images):

Ugh... I opened my wallet. I'm having too much damned fun with this thing. (note the new profile pic)

Here it is embiggened with 7 of the runner-ups of many more.

It seems to have trouble understanding color, beards (I really want a soul patch or goatee but it kept giving the image full beards)
Several had a third row of teeth and other problems, but on the whole, I'm pretty impressed!

The final version was generated with: "A tan young whimsical amused giddy androgynous charming male elf punk with ridiculously long complicated ears, dimpled smile, lime colored floppy wild windswept hair with gold highlights and dark roots, large bright green eyes, dark green eyebrows, full lips, turned up nose, tiny fangs, wearing a complicated violet silk vest embroidered with arcane symbols in gold thread, gold necklace with jade figurine, dangling gold earring with a sparkling emerald, with a small faerie dragon resting on his shoulder"

Seems to have ignored a lot of that, but oh well. =)

Anyone else feel like the single biggest problem with a lot of AI art of women is how YOUNG the faces always seem to look? That bothers me a lot more than the HUGE boobs or messed up hands. So many of them seem to have the facial features of a 13 year old.

Going to pick on this one as an especially bad example... Her face is like an 8 year old. (NSFW)

It's possible to generate older looking women just by specifying an age (even if only vaguely). The default indeed seems to be young, though.

Its actually kind of disturbing how young they sometimes look in body AND face.

Like what kind of data set are these being trained on exactly? This is especially true for some of the user created data sets.

The male side isn't as bad, but they still tend to skew wrinkled 'muscle daddy' or childish 'tween'. It's really hard to find the right magic words to get "Legal Drinking Age / College Senior or whatever. "Slender young man" seems to get close-ish.
