Containment has slowed since last Wednesday, with containment now at 98 percent. Drier, warmer weather is expected for the area, though fire activity is expected to be minimal.

The second largest fire currently burning in California is the Taboose Fire in the eastern Sierras in Inyo County, and it has been stubborn. It has grown to 10,293 acres, and is only 65 percent contained. Firefighting efforts have been hampered by the rugged terrain in the fire area.

Although not yet a major fire, its location poses problems for visitors to Yosemite Park and has prompted a few evacuations. Reported yesterday afternoon, the Briceburg Fire has burned 500 acres and forced the closure of the Highway 140 entrance to Yosemite Park. It is currently only five percent contained.

Sensible, yes. But I'd hate to be one of the ones affected by the outage. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s in much of the area, and the outages are expected to far outlast any refrigerator's ability to keep its contents safe.
