• gif
• jpg
• jpeg
• png

Means it's a link, or url, to an image, directly. Not always, as some servers/services play around with how to link to an image directly. But usually.

Also note just putting ".jpg" at the end of something doesn't create or turn it into an image. This isn't magic.

No, I'm just pointing out that a url that ends with one of those extensions will usually be an image file. But it takes all kinds on the internet, and something like:

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRUNGjkI9yRdcJySCX1AuRpTzUX0GYbSdZDmtxDYJPum1BvG1CL9g

Doesn't look like it would be an image "file." But it is one - one of those sorta images you see in Google Images:
