We are rapidly approaching a situation where the winner of the Democratic Primary may only need about 30 percent of the vote. This is getting nuts!

A lot of them will get weeded out just getting on the primary ballot in 50 states. It takes a lot of work and organization to reach that point.

Fifty-one ballots ... DC has a primary too. Not that anyone would notice because we are last on the calendar.

I always get puzzled when people think it is hard to get on the ballot everywhere, it is not like you need to have a ground game everywhere early in the calendar. There are companies that specialize in getting you on the ballot everywhere, just like there are ones for filling out taxes. Getting the sigs is not hard either, the companies just hire people to stand at a busy intersection and collect signatures from registered voters.

Which unless you are independently wealthy requires money to hire. No-name candidates will have trouble raising campaign funds, when they are competing against more recognized names.

Yes that's exactly what the old white men think. They also believe that white men vote for white men and black women vote for black women and Hispanic men vote for Latinos and lesbians vote for lesbians and all of those elected represent their demographic exclusively to the detriment of everyone else. That's what you get when you vote for an old white man.

Meanwhile, a sourced article (quoting her) says that she backs hearings on the issue. It may not be the hill she'll die on, but she is willing to let the house develop proposals. Which makes the most sense at this point, as it has a snowball's chance in hell of moving beyond the House at this point. Better to spend time laying the groundwork and passing some form of comprehensive healthcare when it is possible.

There were 20 candidates on the NH Democratic Primary ballot in 2016. They do seem to thin out early enough.
It looks like a huge improvement over the lackluster choices we had outside of the two main choices last time.

That's how Trump won.

HRC got 55.2% of the primary votes. Out of all of the circumstances that helped give us Trump, getting a low percentage of primary votes is not in that list.

This is a huge nothingburger, something he has done for the last couple of years. Kamala Harris gave her own response, but no one is kvetching about that. I'm still a little salty about how Kamala Harris was supposedly raising money for Stacey Abrams during her race but took half of it.

For the moment, at least. There is still plenty of time for the herd to thin; IIRC in 2016 the GOP field was like 20 or more contenders and had narrowed to 3 or 4 by the primaries.

Everything is toothless until there is a majority for it in both chambers and the White House. Until then, letting a committee develop legislation is the first step in getting any progress. What could Ways and Means do right now? Write legislation, hold hearings, and watch it die in the Senate. Same as any other committee.

Yes, that's true. But that's not the point. The point is that people want action, even if it will not make it through the Senate. They want the confidence that the people who represent them are actually doing their jobs, even if stymied by the Senate. People will understand it not passing the Senate. What they will not understand is dithering to be a blue placeholder instead of a red one.
